what happens if they do touch, do they explode?

This is likely a horrible... horrible... awful suggestion since empathic shifting is something necros eventually won't be able to get and it always feels awk... you know what, I'm going to skip that tangent about shift as this isn't remotely the place for it.
In it's place would the powers that be possibly consider an extension of the "Graft" system (however that ends up working) being a self feature shifting thing? Seems like the lore supports it even if the outrage hits might be... outrageous.

Haha. I didn't say it had to be the SAME features.
Anyhow - as I said, my views on shift are for an entirely different topic/folder/time/cemetery and mostly wanted to throw out a fairly twisted off the cuff idea that was prompted by the question.

I'd be fine if people could pick the full suite of features in the character manager.
Shift seems quasi-OOC to me as it stands. Let everyone pick them to begin with and then you need an Empath to change them. The same would hold for Necromancers at that point, unless they wanted to graft a squirrel tail to their heads or whatnot.

THIS.
Also for folks who existed before shifting, but yes. Would be nice to have a broader choice of features for characters. Would make letting the chargen choose features a lot more interesting too.
