Any chance we can get a few of the features offered by this spell? Of course, I would prefer the shield skill boost above all. Below is a response I made. Not typical of me to go GvG, but seemed appropriate at the time.
**POST**
Well, I think a discussion of Aegis of Granite (AeG) seems appropriate at this time. Your discussion presumably comes from the request/complaint that WM's should be entitled to (1) wear large shields on their arms and (2) be able to produce bigger/better/more protective shields with the AeG spell.
AeG: As I understand it does the following:
1. Makes a shield from magic.
<<the spell allows Warrior Mages to create shields almost whenever they want, without worrying about lugging them around.>> (quote from Wythor)
2. The shield is a medium sized shield.
3. Makes the shield more durable.
4. The original proposal was to allow WM's to arm-wear this shield.
<<My argument for the time being is that as a frontline combat guild, it makes sense for the Warrior Mage guild to have this combat perk.>> (quote from Wythor)
5. Grants a "modest" boost to shield ability.
<<Creating a shield with this spell will get you a basic, no-strings-attached storebought shield -- albeit with increased construction and some extra weight and hindrance. In the balance this type of shield grants a modest shield skill bonus.>> (quote from Wythor)
6. Repairs an existing shield that is damaged.
<<and will gradually repair damage done to your shield while the spell was in effect on the shield.>> (quote from Wythor)
From my point of view (a paladin that is armor primary):
1. WM already have a very nice armor enhancing spell, which off-sets one or "our" great perks of hinderance and protection.
2. Paladins (only armor primary guild) don't even have a spell that creates a shield from thin air. Heck, I would love this.
3. Paladins (only armor primary guild) have no spell that boosts our shild ability. Heck, I would love this.
4. Paladins (only armor primary guild) have no ability to repair a shield (magical or otherwise). Heck, I would love this.
Considering the fact you have YS which allows you to attain an unhindered state in a tert skill, and given the fact that you have 3 armor benefits that a paladin does not currently have....I would listen to your guildleader who made the statement below:
<<In other words, please let the discussion about this feature die quietly.
- GM Wythor>>

It doesn't seem like that big a deal to me? Divine armor boosts our shield itself up both duability and protection wise so in my mind we sort of have that covered. The idea of a regular old crossing medium shield doesn't really excite me anywhich way. My guess is most every Paladin troops around with a shield superior to that in general. Sheild repair would be nifty though.

Your right.
To be honest you guys should really get a nicer shield spell. I'm thinking of holy shield from diablo 2. Say a tower shield class shield made of light (no weight). Wearable. Has additional bonuses in deflecting magical attacks. Has a damage bonus and acts as perma blessed when used to attack evil/incoporeal beings. Cannot be harmed.
Have Divine Armor potentially effect it as well. Just thoughts;)

Eh, give DA a tiny extra bit of juice on shields, and take away the offience penalty of SR, and we'd be ahead of the game, even against all the stuff from AoG. Or just something to repair or make shields immune to damage. Not to say I wouldn't want Constatine's suggested spell, but it does sound a tad like SoL.

Eh...ok so make it like SOL but not held mana..and a tower shield. I dont see that the issue there would be. Empaths and Rangers share sphere of protection. You and Clerics are both holy magic users. Maybe you guys just have access to a better variation of the spell given armor primary skill set?

<<Hopefully something like this (particularly the self-repair) can be incorporated into the Faith system rather than as a spell.>>
Maybe I need to read the teaser on the faith system a bit closer, but I am not that excited about it personally. I would prefer focus elsewhere. But, that is just my personal opinion. I am excited about the GMs working on things for us, the faith system just doesn't make me do happy dances.

All abilities will be subject to global caps.
There is no limit on the number of abilities that can be created. The only limitation on the abilities themselves is it has to make sense for a paladin to be able to wield it and the ability must be intrinsic in nature. The abilities themselves will be generated from the gods. Each god has a lighter and darker aspect. So, each ability will have a lighter and darker aspect.
What does this mean? Here is a very simple example:
Young Paladin A activates ability B. If Paladin A has a positive soul state, he/she will receive a lvl 1 increase to strength. If Paladin A has a negative soul state, he/she will receive a lvl 1 increase to stamina. Paladin A must have enough points in his/her soul pool to cover the initial cost. After that, as long as there are enough points in the pool for each pulse, the enhancement will continue. Paladin A can end the effect at any time.
That sounds awesome to me. I'm a big proponent of magic tert MUs (the two guilds I play) having non-magical buffs and abilities. This system seems to dovetail perfectly with that philosophy.

PS- Madigan, I'm going to need to hijack you this weekend for a shopping trip to check out the new items in the Ratha shop. You've been warned!

I am heading there tomorrow night if you are around. Also, even if I am not around ask Valynn or Alexii and you can hitch a ride out there on the Slave.

I think shield (and armour and weapon) repair should be linked to forging, with success and RT based on a "forging factor-esque" calculation.
