I hate to ask this..but what they heck. Even tho Ive been playing many many moons...I feel ashamed to admit I dont know what a kertig fist is, or what it does to armor...please dont flame me, just need a nice honest concise answer. Thanks

<< or what it does to armor>>
It's basially the best metal in the lands... If you get enough of it, you can make some killer armor. Personally I'd wait till forging 2, so the caps on plate armor can/hopefully be raised. But it's a gamble. Can use it now to make awesome chain that's for sure.

On a more technical part, a kertig fist is specially valuable for it's hardness. Forging sort of averages the hardness/flexibilty/density when you mix two things. (This does not apply to the iron -> steel thing) so a kertig fist is really hard, and not THAT flexible which would be great. But If you know how to use it you can use the hardness of the kertig fist with the flexibility of a less hard metal to obtain a pretty hard and more flexible mix.
The other factor that makes a kertig fist so interesting is that it has 40 stones. Thus it's the only of the new metals with a potential for armor making, since it takes so much metals to make them. While for a weapon you'll only need 10-50 stones of metals for armor you'll need from 300-800 for a field plate for instance.
Hope it helps, feel free to contact me if you have more questions about it.

To add a little. The fact it has 4 slugs of volume per kertig fist is another reason why it is suitable for most armors (due to their large amount of volume required). It also works well for most weapons, again.. due to the hardness of the material. I would use it mostly on slicing weapons, due to the hardness and density having a greater effect on achieving more impact. The hardness will also allow your construction potential of the blade/armor to increase compared to steel.

there awl wrong. a kertig fist is when i punch you in the stomach PWNED! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
actually its just kertig Tear with a bit higher density and a bit more volume. Its suitable for bastard swords or anything heavier for a weapon, and for smaller pieces of armor like hand or head armor.
