It seems when i have somebody engage my horse, and later go hunt i can see my horse when i asses, see it when it engages and it kicks ALOT more butt then normal, dunno if this is a bug or my horse is just getting stronger but thought i should mention it, i've had to start leading my horse to keep em from attacking so i get some sandsprites to myself (grins)

I dunno if it is a bug either, but.. you've just stumbled on the "thing" that helps your horse fight better. I've been doing that for almost a year now.

In fact, you can do it yourself by simply "advance horse".. wait til you get to pole.. then advance the critter. Your horse will now automatically advance the same critter you are facing and attack.. very effectively.

To stop seeing that you are defending against your horse.. simply leave it in a room.. move to the next room.. assess combat to clear the messaging. Now, wherever you go.. if you aren't leading the horse.. and face a critter and get to pole or melee on it.. your horse will advance it too.

This will stay in effect until you stable your horse. So, just repeat advancing your horse when you get it out of the stables and it will fight effectively for you.

Heck as it stands now.. your horse fights more effectively if you are dismounted beside it, than it does if you are mounted. I raised that with a few of the GMs at Simucon but they didn't seem bothered by it.. so I feel justified in continuing to use this "feat" until they get around to changing it.

Could also 'block stop'.

It's not a bug. I assisted on it and was told by a GM that it was a legit training device to use with warhorses.

Simpliest way to get your horse to stop facing you is to just face the creature soon as your horse advances it, then Signal Horse to Retreat.

The Charge move gained with the first part of Bonding with your horse makes mounted combat very effective.

You and your horse get to melee range instantly from Missile, or from not even being in combat. Additionally, you are facing the creature from behind. So you get 1-3 attacks from behind on the creature, plus your horse gets it's charge attack, plus perhaps one more attack before the creature turns to face you.

Combine that with Halt and you got a dead critter. There are still problems with Charge, IMO, but it is a powerful move as it stands, with a hell of alot of potential.
