I got an assist one night while jousting. A friend and I were jousting for fun and tried to hlt eachother right before the clash. We get to learn how to prep spells on horse back but have any of you tried it?
You can only prep at minimum or maybe just a little above. Why learn to cast on horse back if you can't vast at full strength?
I asked the GH this and I was told that horses are for RP only and not ment for us to use to better our skills or abilities.
My horse is well trained and I fight mounted alot and he can kill gargs. It's fun to fight mounted. But again there is a limit to where you can take a horse to hunt.
Bonding is really hard....been hand feeding my horse and grooming alot and still no bond....I really don't get it.
Then there is the tack problem and crashes and also becareful casting Banner....I cast BOT by the gate of souls and my horse just disappeared....nos running of nothing....all I saw was my horse look around calmly and then poof...he was just gone...along with all his plate armor I spent 30 plats on and a jousting saddle that I won at paladin days joust.
Asked 3 different GM's about it and was told that it wasn't a bug and that none of my iteams would be replaced.
So if you buy a horse don't get armor yet and don't use any special tak.....it won't always be replaced.
I would really like to see horses play a larger part in a paladins role.....I would love to see 5 to 10 paladins mounted and chargeing down a cyclopse during an invasion...wouldn't that be fun.

Just a suggestion.. but you might wanna add another 's' in your subject line since you're talking about warhorses and not warhores. But then again.. who'm I to say.. ::shrugs::

Yes, horses completely suck for anything they were advertised as being able to do. There has not been any significant dev on them since release, and minor fixes. Seems that all systems have been/have gotten a rewrite in the last year or so, it won't be long now.

I'm surprised that your horse can fight garg level creatures and you have not seen any bonds. My horse is still a flubbering, off-balance, worthless, money eating RP tool.

I've lost so many sets of armor for it, I consider it a feature at this point.

How many Paladins do you see ever get to melee in an invasion? Thats a different rant. Heh.

As it stands now I agree with you. Warhorses are pretty pointless. In reference to magic, the GM's have stated that with enough skill you will eventually be able to cast at full strength. What this skill is is anybodys guess. Because Paladins are supposed to be the best at horseback, I have been asking for a Paladin bonus to casting while on horseback, yet have never even seen this request acknowledged.

Hopefully horses will get some love in the near future.

PS. It is also difficult to cast magic when using warhores, but that is a different story entirely.

I agree with Alissalee.

Mounted combat is pointless right now.

I been asking for improvements for several years, to no effect. Go figure.

I think the largest misconception with horses, in relation to paladins, is the actual name. Our horses aren't warhorses, as Slaris kindly puts it, they are worthless RP tools. Personally, mine has been in the stable since the third week of the release. I owned tack once, sold it to keep vault space and weight. Currently, there's no difference between bareback and saddle riding.

Personally, I find it amazing that boats actually got love before horses did.

I just keep mine stabled. Only bring em out to joust and ride him bareback. Once the joust is over, back he goes.

Its a good thing stable fees cap. Aside from my dr-break, I haven't seen my horse for anything, even jousting isn't that much fun.

Ouch, just ouch. I can't believe that they wouldn't replace your gear and bring the horse back. This sounds like a huge bug.

Actually, I had the same happen to me at the boulder leading into the interior Gate of Souls but I didn't cast banner. Seems there is something about that particular room that "chases off" horses. When I reported it, the GMs essentially said .. "Sorry, but that's how it works there".

Sorry ya lost such nice stuff there, but that's another reason I gave up getting nice tack way back years ago when I actually took my horse out of the stables last.
