To kick off this extravagant party that is having not one but TWO champions, I'd like to pose a question to the Dwarven populace.
What do you love, hate, want, don't want about the glorious Dwarven race? There are a few things that I'm aware of right now:
-Doors on Stone Clan
-STOMP verb
We all want beard-related things, but I don't know specifics. Suggest some! Use this as your canvas for brainstorming everything that could bring us Dwarves into our own.
Disclaimer: Simply because something is suggested on, generally agreed upon as a good idea, commented on by a GM, etc does not mean that it will necessarily be written for the game. This is an idea session, but there are no guarantees for anything specific.
Have at it!

Many people- Including me- have suggested beard fluff, such as beads that can be braided into beards.
Oh, would it be possible to also get some beard oil, like togs have scalp wax and skras have scale polish?
Sometimes the key to happiness is not assuming it is locked in the first place- Ziggy

I'd love to see us able to have a "pocket" in our beard where we can store one small or medium sized item, colored beards, maybe beards with streaks, and different ways to arrange the braids, choose how many braids we have in our braids, maybe even have something like the following:
You have a thick braided mustache that droops heavily on your upper lip and a thick beard twisted into two massive war braids.
I don't have a description handy of General Bazrid, but when we broke the path free to Forfedhdar, I told him he needs to teach me how to braid my beard in a fashion similar to his. He did tell me that he would do so, but I'm still waiting on that one.
I'd like to see an expansion to the verbs for the beard system (more fun role playing tools!)
I'd like to see it possible to be a citizen of Stone Clan, and have the option to use "of Stone Clan" as an affiliate title...I know a lot of Dwarves would enjoy that one!
I'd like to see GM Hosted Dwarf meetings in Stone Clan, maybe on a monthly basis or something like that (something along the same lines that the Prydaens do).
I'll post as I think up some more stuff. I know I have lots of ideas but I'm too excited about all this right now to sort it all out!

>>Beards
Good suggestions! Beards are something that I want to take a look at in the future. As a note, though, beards have a pretty expansive verb list already, if I recall correctly.
Stone Clan is another area that I'm interested in. While it is a very important part of many characters' histories in DR, it should be noted that the Dwarven culture of Stone Clan is eclipsed in both breadth and depth by that of Hibarnhvidar/Forfedhdar, even if characters today haven't spent as much time there as around Stone Clan. Bringing these two cultures together and exploring ways the ways that Stone Clan is part of a larger Dwarven culture are important to me as we move forward.

You know- I do kind of wonder where the Biter came from. It looks like a cold-type of critter- and Hibarnhvidar/Forfedhdar has a lot of icy areas. Perhaps there is a history there?

Events
1)Bring back (or have more of) the Things. Yes, that'd be a rather cruel joke right about now, but some regular, official, and important meetings that operate efficiently enough to outlast all our champions should be had. We ARE a race grounded in rigid structure, after all.
2)Bring back Marblenough. He's too stubborn to die, and no doubt is wreaking havoc somewhere. We probably should not be caught unawares should he ever find his way back on his own. Besides, he's probably run out of limbs to lose by now.
3)"The Dwarves themselves do not use these axes, since all Dwarves make their own axes, as everybody knows." (Dwarven Timeline) Obviously, Forging 1.0 has allowed us to make axes (and if not, I'm sure Oolan will make it a point to include them in 20 different combinations in Forging 3.0) but I think Dwarves really need an Ax-making quest of some sort.
Lore
More dwarven customs. Dwarves throughout the genre tend to hold hearth and family above all else, so things like what a typical dwarven household would be like might be more interesting than yet another hero.
Mechanical stuff
1)affinity to minerals (where to find them, how to work them, etc)
2)stonespeaking (two GMs should be way more enough to make a cool dwarf-perk out of this)
3)"the perfect strike". Studying a rock or lump of something carefully, you deduce the best place to strike it. Probably has a decently long RT, but you make entire simple trinkets with just one action. Could perhaps be expanded into a DISMANTLE for more than just boxes.
DISCLAIMER: THIS POSTER IS NOT A MEMBER OF STAFF AND HIS INFORMATION IS/MIGHT BE WRONG.

Man oh man...I like these Dwarf Champions allready.
Beard stuff...how about being able to take a raw nugget of gold (possibly sold at a fest for this purpose because I cant see the changing of the code for nuggets)or a raw nugget of silver and braiding them in.
Some race specific shop or shops at the fests. Gnomes have thier little armor wagon dohickey...Years ago when I played Gemstone III (before it changed to Gemstone IV) They had a Dwarf merchant that would come out on occasion and Dwarves would flock to him. (My GS Dwarven Warrior is STILL dressed to the 9's because of that merchant and I found out last time I activated that account that what I now own there is worth a mint having bought it over 10 years ago) Anyway he sold things like Dwarven girdle, Dwarven War belt, Dwarven Miners belt, Dwarven boots, Dwarven mining gloves and Dwarven helm...things like that. I dont remember what all the items are because its been so long since I last activated him and Im not gonna activate him just to see what all the items are.
Long story short...Stuff to let Dwarves dress to the 9's

Now thats an idea I really like. Ive been a citizen of 3 different parts of the game since citizenship was started...Aesry then Forfedhdar and finally Velaka. Been a Velakan for 4 times as long as the other 2 combined and Id seriously consider dropping Velaka for Stone Clan.

How about an altar to each of the different aspects of Kertigen (Kertigen Divyaush Zachriedek) where you could get a favor from one of the 3. Thats probably not feasable, but an idea.

Dont forget forging war hammers. Im probably one of the exceedingly rare dwarves that uses a sabre and a briquet, and theres times I wish I had trained blunts enough, someday Ill backtrain it up.
As for a quest for axe and hammer forging, I REALLY like that idea.

a slight tangent off that idea, theres people that forage rocks and leave them on the ground and such cluttering up the area. Dwarves are natural workers in stone so theyd be able to find the "weakest" point in a rock on the ground (foraged ones only) and crush it into dust beneath his/her heel. This could be similer to the way people stomp on a pile of jadice flowers and send them scattering.

yeah, kadosh originally had zoluren citizenship but dropped it due to politics <vorclaf, etc>. he would like to be a stone clan citizen though provided he wouldn't have to pay taxes to zoluren. <he is in stone clan militia> he'd join up in forfedhar, but he can't really fight anything there, and getting there back and forth is a pain in the axe.

Restrict beard growth? What a disgusting concept.
Merchants are something we have been talking about, both in terms of fest and regular shops. Please keep those ideas coming.
Beards? I think that was the topic of the first discussion between GM Socharis and I. And it comes up in just about every conversation. But you guys have come up with some concepts beyond what we have so far, so keep the ideas coming. (Except the ones about restricting beard growth; I will feel creepy all day over that suggestion.)
The new forging system will have the potential for racial templates. I don't think those will be implemented until the system is out and stable. But GM Socharis and I will probably be camping outside GM Oolan's door the first time he breaths a hint that racial templates for forging are ready.
We are planning on having an OOC GM meeting at some point. But frankly, being IC as a Dwarf is much more fun.
I have been asked to pass along that racial bonuses for guild abilities is not likely to happen because of some basic design issues. So, for example, there will not be a Dwarven variation of a Barbarian warstomp that is more effective than a regular warstomp.
Please keep the ideas coming.

That's fine, but if you're going to to in and work with beard-code, "locking" it in a growth stage is already possible (ie, no beard ever with that unguent). I just want to keep my beard at You have an elegantly trimmed full beard without it going to the next stage (long stringy beard, or something equally ugly like that).
Or just get rid of long stringy beards. That would work too.

I think Dwarves should be able to forage/summon ale. We should all be imbued with a permanent Glythtide's Gift ability.
Until you release brewing that is.
That and every bartender's eyes should light up when we walk in the room.
And we should get a STAGGER verb for walking while under the influence.

I suppose I'll take this opportunity to draw attention to the long-standing grammar error in the GRUNT verb. If you use an emote that starts with a vowel, it does not change "a" to "an". This ends up giving things like "You make a angry grunting noise" instead of an angry grunting noise.
Other than that, I'm struggling to think of something that hasn't already been mentioned. I suppose I'll bring up racial titles; I'd really prefer they be in English rather than Haakish though. Unfortunately I don't have any specific ideas.
Thanks,
-Karthor

Is there dwarf-only housing yet? Or, barring that, is there dwarf-style accomodations within the furniture selections?
What about some dwarf-flavored goodies scattered around places of dwarven tragic focus (stone clan, the abandoned mine and other dwarf-haunted Forfedhdar places, etc)?
What about new areas focused on dwarfdom (ie, ancient dwarven nation ruins or maybe a dwarf haven like the Pyrdaen and their Hub)?

theres a furniture shop somewhere down by Sorrows Reach that has Dwarf styles in mind. Granite bed, a wall mozaic showing Dwarven life and such. I dont know what all is available there because its been 3 or 4 years since I was buying furniture.

I was out buying a couple of models today and I got an idea of something that Id personally want to see. Someone mentioned the prydaen thing in an earlier post, thats what got the gears moving in my head. As far as I know, there is not yet any kind of "ruling person/body" for Forfedhar, Bring out one of the Dwarven NPC's and get the ball moving on having a Dwarven Ruler.
Something else...Currently pretty much all of the Dwarves consider each other as kinfolk. Ive no problems with that, Dwarves are big on family and relatives. However, there is really only one Clan that people can be part of. Now Ive seen over in gemstone thier Clan system where a Dwarf can be a member in one of the many Clans there. Something like this would work out great for Dwarves. Have one Clan in each Province a Dwarf can belong to. In the grand scheme of things, we are all related and Stone Clan, well we try to cover the whole shebang. Cant focus on any one province. So have Clans that specialize in each province. This could be worked into race post titles or better yet have the Clan names using an Affiliation spot. Youd have to pay dues (yes even Stone Clan) each month. This way you can show what Clan you belong to without allways having to say. Only benefit from the Clan structure like that is the affiliation spot used or a post title.

>>As far as I know, there is not yet any kind of "ruling person/body" for Forfedhar, Bring out one of the Dwarven NPC's and get the ball moving on having a Dwarven Ruler.
Each area has their own leader. Inner Hib is ruled by the Dwarven King (Outer is run by the owner of The Three Turnips), Raven's Point by Bazrid and the Cleric Guild by Vecuto. Those are the three Dwarven-run areas in P5 that I can remember. I'd love to see more Bazrid or the introduction of the King (or P5 events in general really).
My Dwarven wishlist is Kwarlog primarily and fleshing out of the Dwarven clans secondarily. Maybe you can run a Clan symbol contest (like the Eloth House symbol contest) or a Clan brew contest like the Dwarven food contest from back in the day: http://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=20&category=12&topic=6&message=17.

Oh, hey, speaking of clan brews, we need some dwarven holy water (religious booze).
Do dwarves have any special racial friendships/hates? Perhaps some of the siege engine stuff could reflect the hate (ie, a large wheel to roll down a tunnel with spikes and such-like called The Orckisser or something.)
Would be nice if we could take up hammer and chisel and randomly carve things out of stone or carve messages/graffiti, but that's probably not a dwarf-only thing.
DISCLAIMER: THIS POSTER IS NOT A MEMBER OF STAFF AND HIS INFORMATION IS/MIGHT BE WRONG.

When you say doors to Stone Clan, I was wondering if you had received a copy of the 'blueprints' that we designed on request for a previous GM? If not I can send you a copy.
I would like a Dwarven way of doing things in each guild, even if they do not grant a bonus. Things such as grunting a spell, or begining a barbaric dance by stomping.
A beard verb/command that lists all the verbs you can use with a beard.
Grunt to include things like the ability to grunt in greeting, or in warning... etc. IE Worrclan greets Bursaal with a friendly grunt. Worrclan greets Sok with a loud rumbling grunt of challenge. Worrclan grunts in greeting. Worrclan grunts a startling warning.
The ability to grow our beard both thicker and longer than any other race, as well as arrange it in the manner Galahant suggests and many more patterns. Perhaps even some custom ones, and guild/clan specific ones. Titles based on beards... Forkie comes to mind on this one, (Forkbeard)but things like grey beard based on age, or steel beard based on stamina/discipline. The ability to arrange your beard into a pattern and not log out and it be unarranged. Weaving in items, not just gems and twine, but all sorts of things, just base it on weight.
A keg making system! Where we can carve our own from any wood or stone or metal... and add any adornments we choose. Also dwarven made ones should be able to hold more drinks. A non fest keg/flask shop.
A bonus to making flasks in the tanning system. Also if possible add a size increase for how many drinks here as well.
As I've said in the past we used to have a much greater resistancy to poison but I ahh made the mistake of mentioning to a WM gm many many simucons ago that dwarves still wouldn't get stunned/get our nerves damaged by the viper spit... and he reduced our resistancy thusly so dwarven mages wouldn't have an advantage over other mages. So is there any chance this could be looked at and maybe we could be put back to the scale we used to be or better? (this happend mmmm 10ish probably more years ago)
I will think of more. (Back to the raise quest with me... cleric 79! I'm catching you Redarch)

How about expanding stone clan some, its awfully empty and doesn't feel like it was ever finished, it basically is a big ole empty cavern. Also how about updating the Hoy's catalog to be inline with pricing/weights of modern day things? Heck I'd like to be able to get into the clan chief's home. Goi's Pierowall should have or do something!
Axes and you... Axes should not all(well basically all) be so unbalanced, durn it! I watched on the history chanel a while back the history of axes, and thought it was amazing all the different types of axes that there could be and how the modern day axe probably skews our view on what an axe can be. The modern day axe(woodsman axe or firemans axe for example) is a conglomerate of many different types of past axes, and some axes were built purely for balance...
Death from below! Harr! I mean can we have a special attack... Not sure exactly what this would be, perhaps everyone can post their idea on it? I see something like we try to crush the knee and then when they fall have our blade/axe/blunt out ready to catch their own weight on it.

Come on all you Dwarves! I KNOW there has to be more ideas for the best race in the game. Heres an idea, Im not to sure how good it is though. It may raise a few eyebrows and get me a dressing down...
How about an IG event to move the You Know what to Forfedhdar.

Like the idea of a special attack from below. Or just dwarf-specific critical messages when fighting taller/bigger opponents.
Can ya send a few messengers across Elanthia to see if maybe that fine lass Anthyl and her wagon are nearby to take some of our excess coin? Been ages since any have seen her tunneler's axes or Imperial War Hammers, or even had a weapon tempered or balanced?
Enhanced stomp and gnash verbs, possible a dwarven-specific brawl maneuvers.
Dwarf specific climbing/digging tools, i.e., survival aids.

Replying after a busy week -
>Re: Stone Clan
Stone Clan is one area that I am very specifically interested in. There is rather little documentation on the Clan itself, and I'd like to make it a lot more interesting and expansive.
Part of this is renovating Forkbeard's establishment such that it's a bit more modern. Forkbeard's son was seen around town a while ago (though he didn't make much of a stir), and will be returning.
>Re: The Doors
The plans for the doors were delivered to the Princess about a yearish ago (irl). I will double check to make sure that a response has been given to the proposal.
>Re: Clans
Clans are on our radar. Not immediately, as there are other things that come first, but they're on the radar.
>Re: Grunting
I will speak with GM Aurdun about how we want to approach this. Expansion of this verb is possible.
>Re: Resistances
Racially-based bonuses like this won't be changing in the immediate future, but they are something we're aware of.
>Re: Anthyl
I don't know anything about Anthyl's current state. I will investigate.
