Just curious if we could get a red name on what we can expect from Joinable Clans. Are we thinking something along the lines of the Elothean House system with Clan Halls and shops? Or just affiliation titles? Or ...?

Yes, what is the nature of joining these clans. I saw it on the 2010 goals.

Overall I hope it adds to the role-playing dimension, adding character not a lot of extra pain to the GMs. I hope it is awesome though.

Aside: what is a red name, Terra?

Red name means Simutronics employee on the boards, cause their names are read.

It didn't specify elven clans so don't get too excited... But I must admit after five years we are certainly long overdue for something.

I'm not sure if that was a typo or just really clever.

Yes, there names are read and they are red. I have noticed I read their names a lot more then some of the others. However I also read the posters that have Avatars more then people without an avatar.

And yet you don't have an avatar yourself. Should we read your post?

I don't use an avatar because I know for myself I tend to associate avatars with account names and that's no good when they switch avatars or someone else starts using it.

Maybe you should just turn off avatars entirely and read everyone?

Sorry said that or wrote that wrong, I read everyone's post. However I tend to notice and read the red names on the side more then the other peoples names, just something I tend to over look.

The same trend occurs with the avatar, I don't see an avatar I don't glance over to the name area as often as I would otherwise.

Though I do read peoples names fairly often. I should do it more often.

I would really like it if we had racial and Clan titles. As well as food and drink specific to each Clan culture/background. (Elves don't really seem to have much in the way of specific foods outside of Elven bread, chocolate and a couple kinds of wine) Clan specific shops and restricted areas would be cool too.

Someone brought up verbs, one verb I would like to see is a race specific movement verb.

<person> strides gracefully, yet purposefully into the area a look of detached reservation on his or her face.

Possibly an observe or study verb could be added as well.

<person> observes/studies (person) (item) (creature)(area) with cool patience,or aloofness taking in the details

Or something to that effect.

With all seriousness a lot of the 'older' races as far as when they were developed in the DR fantasy realm seem to be in static. I am glad to see all of the snap stuff with humans. Not that I've seen many a human use it, however I like that they got something.

I am not much for a dismantle, however elves were 'overlooked' in this regard, same as I believe the S'Kra Mur and the Olvi, and somewhat rudely the Gor'Tog's was allowed to be used by anyone with a bit of strength.

I would love seeing all races get more play, however I like most of these ideas. Not that I'd use them perhaps, I don't ever blush however I somewhat see it as neat that the redness goes through the ears of the elves.

I would generally consider blushing to be mainly something women do, I mean a few men practice it, but it isn't considered attractive, appealing or typical of them generally.

I feel giggling is something done by children, Halfings and Gnomes, when I see anyone else doing it it annoys me, same thing with dimples.

If giggling is wrong I don't want to be right.

I'm confused by this statement. You realize that blushing is, both in the real world and ICly, an involuntary action, right?

>>Never asked the girlfriend about her make up, have ya?

Not sure what you mean by this. Rouge is not blushing. It gives the appearance of blushing as does pinching the cheeks but it's not the same as blushing.

But you're talking about makeup still. Blushing is not the application of makeup. It's blood rushing to the face causing the face to become red. It's normally caused by embarrassment and it's not a voluntary response. Generally men don't get as embarrassed about things as women which is why women are more prone to blushing than men.

So I'm still really confused by your comments. Do you think that when someone blushes in game they rush to their makeup kits and paint on some rouge?

WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS THREAD

Also I thought all elves wore makeup and giggled regardless of clan affiliation.

There's a lot of inconclusive and conflicting research about this, most often on the side of their being no difference. It's possible we just notice blushing more in women because of a social expectations, other performed signs of embarassment, and paler skin.

Or something.

I realize it is an involutary response, come to think of it I do not personally find it attractive in women either as it often reflects an emotional state of discomfort, embarrassment, nervousness, insecurity, self-consciousness etc.

Back to the topic of Clans it didn't specifically say Elven Clans , does this mean there will be Clans for Humans, Togs and S'kra as well?

Will it be possible to claim ancestry or lineage with two or more clans in some way even if you can officially only join one ? Once joined will people be able to quit one for another or is a one time choice as Houses are for Elotheans I believe and as Sects currently are for Moon Mages? Will they have specific symbols or icons associated ?

I think specfic greetings open only to members of each individual Clan would be interesting. Can they then have competitive sporting events against each other?

Blushing is generally considered attractive in women for the same reason that full rouged lips and dilated pupils are considered attractive; it's a signal of youth(good circulation and clear skin), femininity (certain kinds of features being linked to estrogen levels) and arousal.

Most people probably don't think about it like that though.
