I'm going to begin this by making it clear that this is entirely a self-serving post, and hoping that people won't automatically discount it because of that.
That being said, I'd like to question why it is that no one considers giving racial bonuses to only some races to be unbalanced. Not only do they still exist after removing the encumbrance advantage for certain races was removed (admittedly for good reason), but at least one GM has plans to add to it (see footnote 1). I'm generally speaking of the brawling bonuses for Prydaens, Rakash, and S'Kra Mur, but there are also a smattering of other advantages that irritate me (tail bleeders).
Now I'm hoping that I'm jumping the gun and the GMs have plans to add something for every race which will make me look pretty foolish, but I thought I'd let myself get indignant for once, just for kicks.

Elotheans should get a bonus to CHOP, since they're all oriental ninjas in kimono's.

I make a post about how I think racial advantages are unfair when they're given to only some races... and people begin to post about adding more to the very race that prompted the post.
I love the internet.

I think every guild should get finished, every stat be updated, magic x.y, combat z.p should be released, every race should get revamped and then we should have a total wipe.
You keep your bits, your gear, and your plats. Luche Libre for all after that!
But to keep on topic, I know that labs and goldens (dog breeds) both use there tail very effectively to improve their swimming.
(You like that? Not only did I bring in RL to justify something in a fantasy game, but I used dogs!)
Oh how far we've fallen Caramon.

I don't see how we can justify all the permanent racial bonuses without having equal penalties, so I would rather have neither. No race should be better at any one thing straight out of the generator just because they are one race instead of another.
When you have inherent racial bonuses that require no skill or stat to use, you start to lose the luster of having a game based almost exclusively on skills and stats.

Actually you don't. You make it, like guild choice, have meaning and consequences.
