<Mist enshrouded white ironwood tree.>

<And the meaning of the mist?>

<And then the meaning of the ironwood tree?>

<And why is the ironwood tree white?>

Ok to address these questions:

1. The mist, as someone (forgot who) said already, represents Sieben's Mist that the Kaldar have been defending against for most of their existance as a tribe. So don't think of it as a 'light sea's mist' or 'morning fog' type, more of the 'Can't see the Ocular right in front of you, or the Bosueq creeping up right behind you with a knife' type.

2. The Ironwood tree is kind of a symbol for both the Kaldar's strength as a people as well as their 'return to nature' philosophy.

3. The ironwood tree isn't REALLY white, it's just the kind of tree. There are a few varieties of ironwood tree, although I believe only 2 exist in Elanthia. White ironwood's bark is actually a greyish black, we chose it because while in everything we found it tends to be found in warmer climates in the real world, it's a low-moisture tree that can survive in very harsh conditions.

Hope this helps to answer some of your questions.

Oh, and in truth I never really liked the sound of mist-enshrouded, seemed clunky coming off the tongue. Always preferred mist-shrouded but that's not really proper english I guess.

I'll keep reading back and see if there's more stuff I missed I can help with.

Mist-shrouded is fine English. :)

My only problem with the mist surrounding the tree is that mist is particularly difficult for me to imagine depicted on a medieval-type symbol. I probably would have just said that the tree is set inside a white circle, which we know is meant to represent mist.

I have to say that I agree - but simple geometric shapes and designs appeal to me. I think the original symbol is good in principle, but not so much in practicality. I'm trying to envision embossing mist on leather - and it's just not working.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we have something versus nothing - but it might need to be re-vamped.

No harder than embossing a cloud on leather.

Yeah - but I can think of the kindergarden universal symbol of a cloud (you know a few half circles lumped together) -- not of mist. I like the circle idea for many reasons.

I can see the embossment of mist, in a manner with different depths of embossment for different thicknesses of mist... but that's just because I like the idea of mist enshrouding a tree more than a tree with a circle around it.

For me, it's not a make or break issue. Mist - symbolic form or not - certainly has a specific meaning to Kaldar. A circle can have many meanings - so maybe it is too vague.

We need to group together and write an epic "Tales from the Mist" book for the libraries.

Mist could also be wavy lines or something like that.
