Something I noticed while doing some cataloging is a possible typo:
Dragon Priest Juggernauts drop a weapon called a "shh'oi'lata" (with an L)
Ferashi'ini's Forge in Muspar'i sells a weapon called a "shh'oi'ata" (no L)
I get the feeling these are supposed to be the same weapon, but I'm not sure which is the correct spelling.
So I leave it up to the S'Kra folks.

Ahh, another strike for racial weapons with no indicatiosn of what the heck they are.
Gotcha.

Pretty much, yeah. I'm getting the sense that you're frustrated about the situation, so I'll be slightly more clear. It's an axe.

Not this particular situation, but racial weapons in general tick me the heck off.
For posterity's sake, could you explain what makes it different than a weapon called "an axe?"

<<could you explain what makes it different than a weapon called "an axe?">>
It's a really, really big axe?
You'll find that I generally share your opinion on racially named items, with a few exceptional rules. Such as if the item is distinctly different, then it can/should use a racial name, but it also should have some sort of explanation in its appearance for why it's not just "an axe." A real world example of this would be the maine-gauche. It's French for "left hand," but it's a specific kind of weapon and so we tend to call it a maine-gauche, rather than its less-cool term "parrying dagger." In DragonRealms, I would expect (or hope, perhaps) that a maine-gauche (or por'ograth, or chepel, or whatever racial name it might be given) would adequately describe in its appearance that it was a short, bladed weapon.
To answer your original question: not really, no. Not that I know of, at least. I wasn't the maker of the item in question, so I essentially have the same knowledge of it that you have. It appears to be a very large, very scary axe.

>>Futility: It's highly jarring to read this crap when it should be obvious to the character what an item is, regardless of what it's called.
I agree wholeheartedly. It's weird to have to ask what a 'shh'oi'lata' when its nature would be obvious just by looking.
If I see a Greek sword, I will recognize it as a sword even though I don't know the Greek word for sword.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall rank!

Store Location
[Muspar'i, Street of Metalsmiths]
Flickering flames in clear glass globes strung from the railings of rooftop terraces illuminate the eastern end of the Street of Metalsmiths. The sweet smell of blossoms perfumes the warm night air. Blue doors give ingress to the shops of bladesmiths and weaponsmiths who offer their wares in the graceful white buildings gleaming softly in the moonlight. From the southeast can be heard the gentle splashing of a fountain, nearly drowned out by the sound of clanging metal from the west. You also see an arched door leading into a small jewelry shop, a dark forge and a white building.

[Ferashi'ini's Forge]
Smoke fills the air as Ferashi'ini toils over his anvil in front of a massive brick forge, creating weapons with precision and skill. His apprentice works by his side, keeping his master stocked with the supplies he needs and stoking the bellows to keep the fire raging. Underneath a soot covered sign, several finished weapons have been mounted upon a display wall, their blades gleaming in the light of the fire.

A steel shh'oi'ata is a two-handed edged melee-ranged weapon.
You are certain that it could do:
no puncture damage
woot slice damage
super sweet impact damage
You are certain that the shh'oi'ata is lamely balanced and is awesomly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
You are certain that the steel shh'oi'ata is far from lame, and is in pristine condition.
The steel shh'oi'ata is made with metal.
You guess that the steel shh'oi'ata probably weighs several tens of stones.
You are certain that the steel shh'oi'ata is worth exactly 25000 lirums.
Roundtime: 8 seconds.
Sorry for the weird appraisals, it's April Fool's Day, so everything is like that.
