So I am curious...

What makes a ru'at bracelet a ru'at bracelet? Do they follow some particular design? I'd like to have more information about them in general really.

Yeah, I wonder about this too.

If someone brings you into their ru'at, are they automatically in your ru'at? I'm guessing yes, but that can lead to some weirdness it seems like. I mean, how does that work?

As far as the bracelets go, maybe they are supposed be really narrow so you just wear a lot of them like bangles.

It'd be neat if they kind of bundled together.

Szrael is wearing a gold ru'at bracelet.

If she then puts another on, we see...

Szrael is wearing several ru'at bracelets.

And yet more, we see...

Szrael is wearing many ru'at bracelets.

They by looking at them, you can see the different types.

>l bracelets

You see a gold ru'at bracelet, a crystal ru'at bracelet studded with sun-shaped topazes, a silver ru'at bracelet inlaid with onyx and a worn adderstone ru'at bracelet.

It could probably be phrased better. Oh well.

I do like the idea of bangle ru'at bracelets.

I personally tried to avoid ru'at bracelets for the simple fact of having too many would be terribly annoying.

Of course, my current character would only be wearing one until.. lol.

Anyway, yes, an official word on this would be quite nice. GM BASILISC?

Woah, when did S'Kra get a forum? Neat.

Joking aside, sure, I'll weigh in.

1) What makes a ru'at bracelet a ru'at bracelet?

The same thing that makes a friendship bracelet a friendship bracelet. No, there's no rigid set of rules that you must abide by when constructing one, but they're always instantly recognizable. And, as you may have guessed, they're distributed by ru'ati.

2) If someone brings you into their ru'at, are they automatically in your ru'at?

Not... really...? S'Kra are not a whimsical people, almost exclusively without exception. No self-respecting (or otherwise respected) S'Kra Mur would quickly jump to such a decision as to who is and is not ru'ati. The choice is made gradually, and when they feel that the connection is mutual, the token gesture of a deliberately worded greeting or farewell is often enough to get the message across. For this reason, almost always the individual is met with an appropriate response, and the two immediately know that their bond has deepened.

In rare cases it may be possible for the respect not to be returned, much in the same way that a man doesn't always get a "yes" when he gets on one knee and pulls out a ring. Needless to say (but I'm saying it anyway, because that's the kind of guy I am) this is intensely embarrassing for the party who put their heart on their sleeve. A great example would be if a smozh approached you with a ru'atin greeting. Very few (if any) S'Kra would respond in kind. It's the rare S'Kra Mur who treats a smozh as anything more than a ghost, and even rarer is the S'Kra that welcomes it into their ru'atin.

3) It'd be neat if they kind of bundled together. (and) I do like the idea of bangle ru'at bracelets.

It's a neat idea, but I would only do it if there were an option to have it either way. Some people like having a wall of indomitable text when you look at them. If anything I would probably design some sort of apparatus that would cause your ru'at bracelets to gather in the style suggested, which would leave the option of them being one 'item' or several in the hands of the wearer. Honestly though, don't hold your breath on seeing this in the immediate future. I have way too many other S'Kra-related projects that carry a higher priority due to the utility they represent.

Even if it's not in the immediate future, this would be incredibly option. Right now as it is, I can really only wear one bracelet if I'm wearing my wrist sheath, and my Ru'at has 3 S'kra in it. Not likely to grow again soon but it'd be nice if my character could honor all of them at once.

Yeah, this isn't like, super high on my wish list or anything. But I know a lot of S'Kra who have three-five ru'at bracelets. I'm not even sure if you can physically wear that many bracelets in DR. It'd be really neat if there was an apparatus to bundle them together, I like the idea of having options.

I get what you mean about the ru'at I think. I haven't had this happen to any of my characters, but I did wonder.
