<<<but being realistic about it, stacking another thing you can learn into combat probably should not be the primary way a skill is learned.>>>

I would rather have it stacked in combat then have to travel all over elanthia to train different skills. Hasn't this been one of the major complaints of DR since PIV, that you couldnt train all skills in one province? Besides, I fail to see how running a trail, which is marked by trailmarkers all along the trail, should teach better then following tracks from point A to point B. I live near the Appalachian Trail. I can walk from here to Maine practially blindfolded by following the markers. But if I wander off the trail and try to track a deer, that takes more skill. This is why hunting should teach better. And if you read my earlier post, I said tracking the critter down should teach more, not typing hunt ever 75 seconds.

<<<What trails?>>>

Just kinda wandered around. Started at NE, ran up to Haven ferry, then back down to NE gate, then to Kaerna, to Dirge. Just the trails along the NTR, no set order, just once I got off the trail, going whatever direction I felt like going. Maybe a trip to Knife Clan or Wolf Clan thrown in, but primarily the ones along the NTR.

<<<What trails?>>>

This is my guess. My int is 47 I think and wis is 45. Disc is 65 I think. Im guessing my bucket is smaller then most and doesnt drain as fast.

<<<highly populated hunting ground or are is your scouting considerably lower than your weapons (150+ ranks) and so the critters are tougher when compared to scouting.>>>

I train scouting in elder gryphons in Rossmans. This is only about 60 ranks difference between my highest weapon and my scouting. For the most part, I am the only one there, but once in a while, Gordar is there or maybe one or two other people. For my weapons appraisal and scouting appraisal on the elders, they are beneath my level in both.

<<<There's enough people saying that is sucks to train (after 3.0) that I can't imagine it's just 3 of us. >>>

This is why I have been posting how easy it is for me. So maybe I can be compaired to someone having trouble and the problem could be fixed. Hopefully, if it gets fixed, it wont affect me negatively.

Yeah, those are much higher than mine, but I'm not enough of a min/max guy to know how that would scale at your ranks compared to my ranks and my stats.

>> I would rather have it stacked in combat then have to travel all over elanthia to train different skills.

As would most, but I would rather have 1 or 2 trails train extremely well in each province so that it I could go run a trail or two while my other skills are maxed and learn really well.

100% agree.

I still think the order should be:

PTMs - to an extreme like learning a scroll for arcana or whatever that mechanic is
Trails - the same BITS:RT ratio as HUNT#, but because of the longer duration of trails, you'd learn more.
HUNT # - should be a very effective method and the "go to" thrown into your hunting routine for day to day learning
TRACK {to person} - a decent method but not super effective
HUNT - a small supplement
TRACK PERSON - a very small supplement on a long timer

But for now, I guess it's livable, 75% of a mind state per minute isn't horrible.

Thats not a bad "band aid" suggestion. But, arent there a few islands that do not have trails at all? I haven't been out there in maybe 5 years or so, but Hara and Aesry come to mind. If thats the case, would still have to travel to learn a skill.

Ok, you got me. I did lie. I dont sit down with a stop watch and time exactly 15 minutes. And upon thinking about it, there really is no way that I could get it that high in 15 minutes. With the timer being 75 second for granting exp and a successful <hunt> and then <hunt critter> granting about between 2 and 3% per attempt, I guess I have no concept of time because it would be impossible. And you are right, I did have 574 in scouting the other day when I posted that. There is really no secret though. I <hunt>, wait 8 seconds and then <hunt critter>. If I want to lock scouting, once I found the critter, I <scout aware critter> and then I hide, stalk, advance and snipe. Once the critter is dead, arranged and skinned, I hunt again and move on to the next critter. Even if other critters have come into the room. There usually is no one else hunting there. But I can lock the scouting there in elders pretty easy if I do this. If I try to keep up with the spawn and dont hunt until the room is clear, then I cant lock scouting that easy and have to do it while practicing TM in peccs. Since I needed pretty just scouting since about 130th circle, this method has taught me about 100 ranks (I think it was 470 scouting for 130th under old reqs) in about the last year.
