Okay... so I fell victim to a shark attack. At this point in the day I had no choice but to depart (woohoo death #24). So I'm doing my naked run back to find my grave and I get this message:
Blackness engulfs you as your mind is drawn back to your recent death. You recall the entire experience with a startling clarity, yet something deep within you insists that you are forgetting something. Something important.
Never seen this before.

Oops!
You might want to check the thread going on in the On Death folder: Most people are reporting them at Death 50 and with Kertigen favors.
From what you just said, death itself is changing.

Well... yeah. But I realized later that it's Aesry and after you depart you come back wearin' that robe thing. And, I found this interesting as well...
So, the shark tore off my arms and one of my legs. However my armor didn't suffer a scratch... odd.

That was the first poster, it's been seen from a wide number of favors from different gods, different guilds and different death numbers.
Cute verbs and speaking from hiding are excellent ways to catch a lightning bolt in the face regardless of mystical ninja abilities.

Berengaria and Truffenyi are the gods attributed with building the "bridge from death to life" that clerics use to raise folks. His associations with brining the dead back to life probably has something to do with the message you got. I know you departed (v. getting rezzed) but there's my guess.

I, too have had that message (208 deaths, 10 favors) and also one of my other characters has too (5 deaths, 4 favors).
I was thinking maybe it had something to do with us losing part of our experience after departing.
Whatever this is, hope this is a tie-in with the necro guild coming out. I so want that to be over so the GMs can work on important stuff...companions! : P (this was a feeble attempt at a joke).

As someone returning from a, oh, 8-9 year hiatus, I've gotta comment that skinning seems ridculously easy to learn now with the combination of ARRANGE and SCRAPE. With the addition of fishing, you don't even need to threaten yourself in combat. I do hope at least one loss of your whole skinning exp pool per level due to a combat death is still expected by the guild leaders. Tolle made me go back out and die first before giving me my latest circle. Sigh.
Companions seem to have the same, or more, issues than they did when they were initially released. In fact, it's not clear to me that anything has changed with them!
I rather expected ya'll to have bears and the like.
PS. I also like the new-to-me trail system, mainly because I forgot all the maps.
