I didnt say that there was not a way to RP the situation ... I was saying that I personally thought it went a little beyond roleplay ...wandering into the realms of lying ... Kalika never did any of the things Kyssandra said she did ... we all know this and she is not denying this i hope .... i dont even know what my point is at this point im kinda sick of arguing about it ... basically yes it could be dealt with in game and one could only hope that it would not lead to violence ...but I basically just dont like it ...its like why wont the GMs allow there to be players named after fictional characters ...its out of character ... they could roleplay either the same character or just some guy with the same name ...but for whatever reason they consider it OOC (which makes me wonder how all the Dryzts got by ...) anyways id imagine that calling yourself a guild leader is just as OOC as naming your character after a final fantasy character... all and all i need to give this topic a rest ...sorry to everyone i offended and all it wasnt ment that way ..waves

>>Jent>>I have a better idea, why don't ya Roleplay with her and try to solve it that way. I really don't care one way or another, actually I'm happy to see the Roleplaying. This is not something we as GM's should have to spend time refereeing.
So when I drop her like a sack of potatoes to prove she is nowhere even NEAR the skill she claims (beating Kalika in a bow match ... HA! ... I hate the wench, but I give Kalika more credit than that), when I get pulled up for my Warning, I can claim I had your sanction?
Get real here. As long as Kyssandra wants to claim this we have no real options. The only ones who can truly confirm or deny are the Guildleaders themselves.
(No, Kyssandra, the REAL ones, sorry.)

<<I do agree with this though. Once over 100th circle or 200th circle or something of that sort, Rangers that have Learned survival skills to a decent point. Not just some, but all of them, should be given the ability, when a young ranger below their circle seeks them out, they can grant circle. This would only be for Rangers in my oppinion above 50th or 60th. Rangers at that circle spend less time in or around a city where you can circle.
This idea has fallen by the wayside since it was first discussed. I think it would be an excellent ability to gain for completing the 100th circle quest.

Beating someone up does not make you a better ranger than them.

Well... There's actually a multitudes of options that you can set as your RP to this situation. All it takes is a little forethought.
As for Tusca... well its obvious to Tusca that she's a delusional person who needs professional empathic help.
Furthermore... we have absolutely NO information on how our guild leaders are selected and appointed, and/or what req's or anything like that about them. Who's to say that our Kalika, Tolle, Tomma, and Marion didn't just take it upon themselves to build a guild house and sit around and teach the young rangers.
Heck even the teaching of young rangers doesn't neccessarily be a requirement of a guild leader... as is proved by that wandering guild leader who marked the trailmarkers.
Let her RP as she wants... and RP a reaction to it. I mean... thats kinda what the games about afterall.

Re: RPing a Guild Leader on 07/10/2002 11:49 PM CDT
speaking of that website Korsik, I did take the chance to check it out. I did not finish looking at everything and some parts are useful, the list of ranger signs is good for young people trying to learn them.
Then I came across the parts that were misleading, irrelevant, somewhat OOC, and somewhat disrespectful. Here's a few of the things I saw that really upset me, and put the nail in the coffin on what I think of any self-proclaimed Guild Leaders.
Someone needed to double check their research on these two
1. Beseeches particularly beseech the wind to preserve. Minimum align is not 25 it is 30, if someone reads this and aligns 25, the beseech will fail but still take a significant amount of spirit anyways. Now that its been changed spirit also takes a significant amount of time to come back before it is safe for them to try again with the correct alignment of 30.
2. Companions - wolf requirements. This section is going to send someone out to get a wolf with the right circle, but too much charisma, wasted tdps, and too little animal lore (oops! and they just released that coon). The information I had was 35th circle, 40 animal lore, and 15 charisma. Handbook states 35th lvl, 35 AL, 18 charisma? Definitely not 18 charisma I know quite a few who got a wolf with less, but no less than 15. And friend of mine at 35 AL could not get a wolf, went back for one at 42 and was able to.
Please fix these, or look further into them if you think I am wrong, but i know the information currently posted on the site is incorrect. Unless the latter scenarios are what we want happening to our young rangers when it comes time to use a new beseech or get a new companion.
Somewhat OOC - I read the stories behind everything
3. Hotlips? Half of this story was taken straight from the M.A.S.H. movie for those of you who have seen it, its just got an alternate and more G-rated ending as far as accounting for why people were calling her Hotlips. (thought some might find the kissing small children and familiars part slightly offensive) How is this good RP? As someone stated before they GMs dont like us playing characters out of a book, movies are better?
And last but not least somewhat disrespectful
4. The "log" of Kalika appointing a new Guild Leader. We've all heard the story by now, but did we all hear the part about when Kalika said "A bet is a bet, etc etc, you may be guild leader" and then proceeded to ask "but please don't tell anyone about killing Esmellda?" When you thought up the story, and decided to RP it, did it ever hit you writing the log that it might seem disrespectful of Kalika's wishes to post it in the ranger handbook that youre giving out to everybody? Now everyone knows, and I bet Kalika wishes she could take back that appointment, if you wanna RP that? Id like to RP this, in my eyes you've betrayed you're brethren.
This sums up what I think of self appointed leaders, im not totally criticizing any work you put into the handbook, its just inconsistent, it needs work, it needs more accurate research, and until that happens, as helpful as it is i dont see it having leadership potential.
if this post is offensive, at least i gave it a chance and checked it out before further stating my opinions

Wait, wait. Korsik? A reply from a thief on our boards to start out with. One that thinks he's great to add, and then one that's been reported for harrassing her multiple times to top it all off? Korsik, you don't hold anything on this thread. Funny how you couldn't keep your mouth shut on this. Oh, by the way, afk scripting? <laughs> Where'd you pull this one up considering she's had you blocked on IM's for a while now. Slick bro. But whatever. Oh, and since you're going to bash her on spelling, mind telling me what LOLOLOL means? I'd like to know. Anyway, done with that one.

P.S. Go ahead and bring your little possy back to harrass me again in game. I'll go ahead and report you once again. I doubt you should be one talking about lock outs.

I think most have issues it because it's stupid
It's along the lines of previous threads <happy Sly> "mom I wanna rp a druid"
or "lookie lookie I'm a dark elf" or one of the numerous dumb things people
have posted in this folder.
Come on, the I bet a guild master that they couldn't hit my less than 200
evasion magically turned me into an actual Guild Leader, Not honoree, Not
Mentor, Not Guild Mother, but friggin Guild Leader? PLEASE
It doesn't make any sense.
If anyone would be made guild leader it would be those who have put in the
effort to make it to make it to the top of the guild, who have been here
since the beginning, and stuck with this damn guild throughout all of it's
shortcomings

Right here... if ya follow through with a logic track of what ya say i think its obvious.

You're equating Guild Leadership with combat ability... while it might be true that the current guild leaders are formidable, we simply do not know that that played any role in their obtaining Guild Leadership.
The assumption your making is that you yourself aren't "skilled" enough to be a leader... therefore by showing that you have greater skills than someone else that they're not qualified to be a guild leader.
I've always been of the opinion that "skill" does not equal the ranger. There are rangers with immense amounts of skills that I think really bumble rangering. And there are those quite below myself who I use as rolemodels as what a Ranger should really be.
Course those are simply my opinions and until we get more information on the ranger guild and its history i'll keep those opinions.

Did I say you got locked out? Read my post Bud. It says you have no room talking about them is all. Didn't claim you did get locked out, now did I? I can tell this is going to end up going nowhere. Oh well. Guess there's not much you can do when you have people arguing but she has GM support. Jent already said it's going to be allowed to continue pretty much and that's it. Not much else to say on the subject.

Sorry, but your logic is wrong from the get-go. Try again.
Kyssandra's whole point is it is her combat ability which got her the job. I am saying if that is true ... the moment I prove how WORTHLESS said abilities are, the jig is up and she can just go away.
My whole point is not in proving myself. The point was that if Kyssandra "proved herself" by besting Kalika, then I "prove myself" by besting her ... and I do not believe I am anywhere NEAR having what it take to be a Guild Leader ... then she is, by default, full of manure.
It's simple math.

Personally I have issues with the effect this so called self-appointed "guild leader" is having on new rangers. Is her advice sound, is she just a looney snert or what? It's one thing to RP you worship squirrels, it's quite another to tell people you're a god and they must worship squirrels also.
But, the discussion's over, I can't say anything because I didn't read this sub-board fast enough. Woe be to anyone that doesn't read the board at least once every 12 hours!

Don't think you missed anything. This could have been a good discussion if a few of the posters managed to put hings in their proper place. There was one thread in the outhouse and one here. This is the RP folder and their is no place for 'posse', 'report', or 'lockout' in this folder. I had some thoughts but both became outhouse threads so I didn't bother.

Okay, since it couldn't be let go, guess what? It's over, she gave up the title last night after figuring that her roleplay was going to be worthless from all the arguements and annoyance this has caused within the span of a few hours. So you can all go back to your little happy worlds and stop complaining because she's no longer using that title. See you all around I suppose.

The discussion was off-topic for this folder, few of the posts were a discussion of role-playing.

Sylvado basically has it covered. I told you to keep it civil and you couldn't so the discussion is over, it was basically over when it turned into a bashing pit. If you want conflicts, keep it in the conflicts folder, if you want to hold a civil discussion, then it can stay. It got out of hand so I ended it because I had already asked you to cool it off and it didn't cool off. I have no problems with the thread being taken over to the conflicts and you can bash at each other all you want.

That BM handles his/her folders his/her way and I'll handle mine my own way. If you folks want, I can get rid most of the folders and you can all go crazy in one folder. How does that sound? Actually, that folder is still there and hasn't been used much either. You can post about webpages all you want in there but the minute it turns into a bash fest you better believe I'm going to go and stop it, but of course you can just move it into conflicts then and its all good.

>>I'm going to, for once, agree with Dulci on something. =D When I see problems going on, it usually lasts like 3 or 4 days. Just check out the thief folder sometime when Zernium starts being himself on any thread, keep in mind, yes he is a warrior mage complaining about thief stuff. He's allowed to keep talking about it for like a week before the Moderator says, "Okay, stop."<<
That BM handles his/her folders his/her way and I'll handle mine my own way. If you folks want, I can get rid most of the folders and you can all go crazy in one folder. How does that sound? This folder is for discussions on RP, not conflicting over who is right and who is wrong and who is the stupid one for doing such thing., keep that to the conflicts folder.

Apparently some people did get off topic, but I wanted to specifically comment upon the role playing aspects that was stated in the initial post. The moderator could've said, ok, keep it on topic, or said, if part of this should go to conflicts. But, that wasn't the case. The moderator ended the entire thread.
Now, however, we really are off topic.
