So, i just rolled a new ranger and its great. Lots of fun. Not having any issues training any magics...except for debilitation. According to elanthipedia, the easiest ranger spell in this class is Devolve and it is a basic level spell with a min prep of 8 (e-pedia says 5 which is false). I can cast other basic level spells at a prep of 8, yet whenever i try to cast devolve at 8 on a frog:
You gesture at a heggarangi frog.
Currently lacking the skill to complete the pattern, your spell fails completely.
I've been getting this same message without any backfiring for about 15-20 ranks of Life Magic. I haven't been able to train debilitation as a result, any pointers?

It's a basic spell (tier 2) rather than an intro spell. I would work on getting your Life Magic and Attunement up to 50+ ranks, before being able to use your debilitation spells. We dont currently have an introduction level debilitation spell. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or just an oversight, but it shouldnt take you long to be able to start casting the spells.

Ah, totally didnt think to check the analogous spells. Burden is fitting the bill. I was waiting for a full prep on Devolve, but still wasnt having any luck. I am able to cast burden just fine though. I have about 40 PM right now and figured it was just a skill thing with devolve, but i hate seeing all my other magics moving great and one getting neglected. I could cast other spells that were basic level at a higher prep than i was trying with devolve and no luck. Thanks LiuriDR!
