Hello, I played a ranger about a year ago, spent some time between then and now rerolling and playing a bunch of different guilds before I decided to come back here.

Now I've spent a bunch of time reading old posts and I've seen some ones that seem to suggest we've got some new trails that are easier to run (previously the easiest to run required 50 ranks), is this true, and if so where are these trails?

I remember well training those first 50 ranks of scouting in Tiger Clan, am in the process of relearning them in Arthe Dale this time and am approacthing 30, but it would be nice to not have to spend a week tied to a scarecrow (I track him so I can hang out with the kitty).

While I'm here I might as well ask about boxes, I know trollkin boxes teach up to 35-40? But I can't remember the difficulties for wood troll (I'm guessing they go till ~45) or Rock troll (50-60?) Also, am considering moving to Riverhaven/Lang, I hear shaman boxes teach till 40, other than that all I know of is Dusk Trolls which sounds like I can't kill those quite yet (50+ skills to fight?) My goal (short term at least) is to make it to sand sprites, I got there as a barbarian but I can't remember how much skill is needed to open the boxes. And not that it matters, but since when are master lockpicks 4 gold instead of 2? grumbles

Thanks for the help!

Trails - I started to pick up trails at perception + scouting = 80 ranks or so. My perception was MUCH higher than my scouting. I found the trails around Haven first, soon after that the Kaerna/Crossing trail.

Boxes - Trolkin teach me a little disarm even after 44 ranks. I'm not a fan of woodie boxes, not enough drops and teach about the same in my opinion. Reaver boxes are teaching me great right now, while Rockie boxes are bad news for Hanryu.

Someone else will have to tell you about sandies, and may I suggest befriending a commoner, sales to friends are always cheeper ;-)

I have opened Sandie boxes with about 45 in disarm and picking- in a good bonus area with SoTT and Wolf Scent up. But I wouldn't really reccomend them before at least 60 in both. Depending on which disarm options you use, they can teach to 135 or so easily. Keep in mind that sandies swarm and drop tons of boxes, so you'll want to invest in an extra container if you want to seriously hunt there for training.

Oh I know, I've been there, spend half an hour fighting then an hour trying to kill em all so you can just leave, then make 3 trips back and forth with backpacks full of boxes making a big mound of boxes outside the cave.. its great. 60 sounds about right to start there, though.

Reaver boxes WOULD be perfect to bridge the gap between Trollkins and Rock Trolls, but it takes FOREVER to get enough boxes from them, usually end up having to run back to town to get healed and having like 2 boxes.
