I'd suggest snowbeasts and/or silver leucros on Ratha. Once you cap them out, you might try vipers; vipers will step you straight into la'tami on Aesry or black leucros near Crossing.

He's not ready for vipers yet, IMO. They still give me a decent bit of trouble, at 105 multi/shield/parry and 128 evasion. Peccaries and barghests, never tried. I think snowbeasts will be just fine to get your defenses up to 100ish at least. You'll want that.

In my mind, ogres teach rather poorly for the risk anyway. You might be able to take vipers, if you don't get more than one or MAYBE two at a time. Otherwise, I would suggest firemaidens and immature firecats. But beware of the cats: They will attempt to ambush. You'll need to use another critter for your LT, if you're actively training that.

If you're open to travel, consider Haven swamp trolls or creepers and vines by Theren, and use the blood wolves for skinning. Or if you go to Ilithi, with caution you can take the gargoyles and snowbeasts, and hunt the jackals or Fallow Fields for your LT. Overseas, you could use sand sprites for a lot of multi and boxes, or silver leucroes on Ratha. Or on Aesry, try the first tier of snow goblins or maybe la'tamis. Again, with the 'tamis, beware of swarms.

Good luck!

I'm just BARELY getting to the point where la'tamis are feasible. That's only with a capped SOP, 34 reflex, 128 evasion, and 105 parry/shield/multi. Snoblins are pretty similar to that, and it stinks to hunt without poach--it'll be another 40 ranks of LB (among other stuff) before he gets snipe.

Swamp trolls, too, might be a bit too much; on the other hand, sand sprites and blood wolves are too little and probably won't train your longbow at all. Vines/creepers is a good suggestion if you don't mind swarms, but get some slicing arrows before you go because they're resistant to puncture. Gargoyles are doable, but again you have the no-poaching problem.

Silver leucros, snowbeasts, vines/creepers are probably your best bet.

Vipers are far too difficult, and they'll stunt your parry.

Snowbeast are doable for a few ranks, Creepers will hold you over till La'tami and then BLeucros

Downside of creepers, no skinning.

At those ranks... I was hunting crocs <g> Back when they taught well, there were no worms, and so forth...

But after those ranks, I did vipers from 120-140, but Got bored with getting stunned + I got bored with not getting parry (Because if you parry, you get poison)..

So at around 140 I did Tami till about 180?.. or 160?... then I went to Bleucs till 220 evasion, 230 Longbow, then La'heke's till 260/260, and now I'm in genis (saaaad no skinning :( :'( )

I hunt vipers all the time, what little shield skill holds me over quite well.

I live in Ilithi, but my wife can't hunt there yet, so we're in Zoluren until she can hunt in Ilithi better. So I was hoping mostly for Crossing-area critters.

Snowbies and Gargs down in shard teach me good, the gargs in crossing do too cept the DS in there woop on me WAY too much.

As for my LT, it's simply my third weapon, I goof around with it. Intending to bring my 2HE up as my third, since I use a bastie.

and as for crocs...the worms don't scare me.

so, around crossing, y'all suggest vipers?
