Well, disarming and lockpicking are way behind everything else, I guess I should start working them... what's best for boxes at around 90 Disarm / 80 Lockpick skill? I tend to hunt the Haven/Lang/Theren area...

Hanryu's right: Marauders and wood trolls for that range. I was still learning from them using the quick options at about 135 or so- though it was painfully slow even by my standards.

Another option is to collect some low boxes while backtraining weapons, or just a quick mass slaughtering in gobs. Lockpick is definitely quantity over quality, so grab several easy ones and pick through.

<<Unfortunately they fixed disarm a long time ago and neglected to do anything about lockpicking. Expect your disarm to pull further and further ahead of lockpicking unless you take some time and go to one of the thief doors and catch it up.
I've been the exact opposite, though I still have low skill; in the 60s. Based on some discussion in another folder, some people have disarm pull way ahead and others have lockpicking do so. I don't think we ever figured out what exactly caused the split, though there were some theories.

If you're a Ranger, don't waste your time.
Lockpicking isn't even in our survival average and seriously, who cares about lockpicking it doesn't effect anything cool.

Ignore that advice. I like to work on boxes, and where I am at on box skills I can average about 1-3 plat per 6-8 boxes picked. Some of us are like kids with presents we got to open it to see what's in it.
At your present level in box skills if you're willing to go to Ratha, the sand sprites drop boxes like nothing else. Or you could try snow goblins on Aesry.
In the Haven-Theren area probably the best bet for you is gypsy marauders. Their boxes might be a bit above your box skills right now, but you're close to them. I used to come out of there with 3 backpacks full of boxes. I'd lock disarm easily, and got lockpicking to perplexed usually. In fact, I had to wait for things to pulse to get the maximum experience out of their boxes.
Happy picking!

Unless you count your bank account.
Certainly a very subjective statement. As someone already mentioned, opening your own boxes can be a lucrative endeavor. Certainly if you work disarm (which still counts for us) wouldn't you also want to open that box you just disarmed? Upper range boxes have several gold worth of stuff in each one.
Still, many rangers have stopped bothering with lockpick since it doesn't count towards are req's anymore.
Not so much a tagline as a cry for help.

88th circle
Lockpicking: 46 18% clear
Disarm Traps: 93 94% clear
Haven't trained them since they took pet boxes away.

How you expect to run with the wolves come night when you spend all day sportin' with puppies?
You might as well pay attention since your behind can't afford free speech
I'm like a pee stained mattress, don't sleep on me!

Actually, I find it to be the opposite. For lockpicking, anything will work. Go out and get a bunch of gob boxes, and you can still lock, regardless of skill. Sure, the more difficult they are, they faster. But you will at least still learn. Disarm, not so much so. You will need to find something fairly difficult to disarm to learn. Which, because they implemented an always present chance of failure, has become quite a hastle.
