for lack of knowing the proper spot to stick this...

Someone have a good way to learn escaping (aside from listening to classes) I maxed out the duskie area already, I've tried Unyns but that gets very, very dicey as ive got to drop my evasion to even get hit by the webs. so are there any other ways? or do I need to backtrain my shield more and just suffer through Unyns later on.

Until you've got 200-ish combats, this is your best bet. I've got 125-ish Escaping now (up from 35 when I started) and the learning is still okay if I go to the right muck spot.

speaking of escaping, velakan slavers stink at teaching it! Im so disappointed. Dont bother going all the way to muspari to learn it. ten webs in a matter of minutes, 130ish escaping, and still at thoughtful. BOOOO. I really wish the escaping critters taught scaled with the level they teach defenses. And how come shields block some kinds of webs (unyns) and not others (slavers, kartais)?

I recently got my badge and as soon as fall rolls around or I get sick of these stairs I'll be headed back home to hunt behind the wall. Mind sharing some tricks, tips, scripts, etc for training escaping back there?

Step A: Find room with muck. (maps are helpful in this step)

Step B: Run some variant this script:

Top:
put dig
wait
move (applicable direction)
put dig
wait
move (opposite direction)
goto Top

Run until you've hit like 130 ranks or so. You will probably need to move to different muck rooms as you progress. May also want to add (put retreat x2) before each move command, just in case.

Step C:
Wait for other ways to work escaping to be implemented.

It won't take long until you won't need to dig anymore to move from room to room. The easier muck areas seem to be near the top of the area and the harder ones seem to be near the bottom. Wander around, find a good loop that works for you, rinse and repeat.

Different 'sets' of muck rooms beyond the wall are of different difficulties. If you find the right little grouping of rooms, you should never have to dig, and will still lock quite nicely.

Best place once you do is kartais. As far as I'm aware of, or have seen, they have no cap thats been reached so far. I'm in my 200's and still learning it very well. And I know of another ranger with at least 350 and doing the same.

I'd also like to add that actually escaping doesn't really get any easier either. There have been quite a few higher people who have died there doing so. You can have 300 escaping, and still fail quite a few times before you actually break out of them.

Really? I'm not quite at 100 and as I recall I was always breaking out the first time. Maybe I'm just not recalling accurately, or maybe it's a stat thing. I plan on being up there as soon as I have the climbing to get in the manor (couldn't stand all the RT to get in the long way).

PS - any idea how much it takes? One told me 200, but I have 220 and still not getting in either the fireplace or the vine...

Well I remember Samter i think it was.. Did it with 201 climbing and surefooting. Not sure how much that spell helps climbing though. But considering it nerves and some stats I think play a role I'd really say about 220 for constant entry with no wounds. Hard to say since i can lead people with lots less then 200 climbing in.

Hmm, I don't know. I still recall failing once in a while. It's definitely not as bad as when I had very little, but it still happens. This only happens in kartais though. Everything else is cake.
