ive just been squeezing ranks out of cougars. I have been hunting eels a little bit, but when someone else comes in the area, i get swamped and can't retreat. I went up to rockies, but i can't kill them very well, or at all for that matter. im just wondering when i should head up to rock trolls. thanks for the help.

You might want to cap out your multi in eels and beiswerms first. And keep in mind too, that rock trolls for their circle can get pretty nasty. There was a time when Claw Trolls were to be feared! After that, cap out what the critters west of Riverhaven can teach you. Just watch out for the wolf spiders.
After that, you should be able to handle blood wolves (with caution) and rock trolls. But keep in mind that rockie skins aren't worth that much more than goblins, so unless you want them for scraping they're not worth keeping.

I'm at 18 too.
After cougars I went to wood trolls & grendels with the occasional eels. Now I go between eels & reavers and wind hounds. I seem to be ok for the most part. The reavers can be a bit tough at times but I seem to be learning pretty good up there. I get a little beat up but that's just part of the fun.

Oh and if you get really hurt and you can't retreat- try hiding. I had (cough) forgotten to put on my armor, was on the ground bleeding with 2 hounds and a reaver. I couldn't get up, couldn't retreat so I hid. They couldn't find me, retreated from me and I was finally able to stand and get out of there.
