Well... logged back into the game and continued training.
First time out, in 3rd tier Snoblins wouldn't ya know that we had a brown out in my area.
Computer died and then died again as I was tryin to get back on.
By the time I got back I was surrounded by critters who were just finishing up pounding me into the ground...

I departed... and got booted back courtesy of Truffenyi, so it's now officially 50 ranks and one untimely death.

Wow, that really sucks. Sorry to hear this. Are you going to see have far you can get on one death now, or reroll?

Reroll.

I've tried it both ways and I honestly have to say that after a dozen years or so of playing a number of characters, it is by far my favorite way to approach the game. I did get help from a friend to get my stuff back, and if I can find the ranger hidey-hole on Aesry, I'll leave most of my stuff there for other rangers. If not, I'll journey back to the only other one I know near Crossing and leave it there and in Kalika's guild. Honestly, I know I'm leaving behind hundreds of plats and lots of great stuff in my locker, but I'll share what I can and then move on.

And then it's off with another adventure with a new character!
After a couple of years with Widg I've seen a lot of changes that should be interesting.

Circle 50...with no favors, no deaths, no rezzes. Don't know of any other character that's done that. And it was a Ranger that did it.

I've walked the land and swum the streams,
I've danced with sprites and laughed with rams,
And made a friend or two;
And yet it seems there still remains
Another time, another place
To which my spirit often flew

How can I speak of all the friends
Who made the magic of the land
At times more real, and yet
The end would come with sudden thrill
And leave an empty place that still
Was always filled with small regret.

Again again the halfling came
To blow his smoke and fling his stone
And meet another friend,
Until at last the final blow --
And yet he wishes all to know
The Starry Road is not the end.

That way of play would drive me crazy. Especially because eventually you get to a point where it isnt possible to play and not die. Open rolls will make sure of that.

Its not a matter of IF, just a matter of when. More power to you, if thats what you enjoy. Although, You could always play a moonie/trader/empath and never have to enter combat. Although I guess you could always circle of classes, in any guild.

I could never do it.

If there was some kind of bonus or mechanic, i would do it/try in a heartbeat. Well, at least if we could get rezzed. It would be intense. Although player griefing could get nasty.... 2 deaths in a row results in auto depart yea?

Intense... I say again.

p.s. the new star trek movie is rediculously amazing and everyone and there mom should go see it. i even sorta got emotional in the first 10 minutes...

Heh... having a ranger (or barb) make it to 50 circles without favors is noteworthy... not in the same league as other guilds who don't have to face death in combat in order to circle.

Rangers suspect that they are in a class apart... let's see if another guild can match this!

I would just like to add my congratulations for your efforts. This is, indeed, a very noteworthy accomplishment. And you are to be commended for taking it on yourself regardless of any lack of reward or payback. Very Rangerly.

What's your new tenderfoot's name?
