I was wondering if there was a time limit on the 5 'free' deaths thing. As commoners you never circle and have to get favors before using up the 5 free departs we get starting out. So I was curious if those freebies lasted forever, or until used.

There is no time limit as such. My commoner could be approximately circle 5 as a barbarian by now but she still has a free death left- Not that she will ever use it: She's made sure to have favors.
