Trying to buy some clothes...and the lady at the stitchery says I should try joining a guild before spending the province's money. Now I paid back my debt, and got some money selling branches...but she still won't take it.
Just curious on how I can get rid of my patchwork stuff and get some clothes without having to join a guild.

Once you reach a total/composite of around 10-20 ranks in skills, you should be able to deal with the stores as a commoner/non-guilded character.
Did you give Mags enough branches that she no longer takes them from you? When I do that, although I tend to go for sticks instead of branches, my commoner characters typically have enough Foraging and Perception to be able to interact with the merchants.
