I don't know if this is an RP or not but I was recently thinking, I'm a relatively young trader and recently I had my whole contract payment stolen from me on the Leth side of the crossing ferry and I had to go all the way to shard to get some money for the ferry.
Now I was wondering, since it's so incredibly hard to protect against thieves what if there were a coalition of people who were offering their services to guard a caravan while a trader was trading? Obviously these guards would be paid for their time, maybe get a percentage of the money made on the trip?
But what I"m really asking is if anyone would be interested in putting their name up on a website? If anyone has a suggestion as to what folder I should print this in to get the best response I would greatly appreciate it.

It would be unlikely as a young trader you would be able to afford to pay someone skillful enough coin to make it worth their taking the time away from hunting to guard you--unless they have some other vested interest in your protection <you are their spouse,significant other, <OOC other character>,etc.
This isn't really the place for it, but theres some tips you can use on Apu's website,to make your losses relatively insignificant. Might also want to check the trader folders further down.

I actually created a trader recently so I could get some RP from precisely this method. Very frustrated that I won't actually be able to hire anyone for a long while, and I'll probably give up. However, I think it would be great if some existing traders would hire guards etc. Even purposefully going through critter areas to make the journey exciting.

Darn! I'm really not sure if my perception (I've trained it over 100 but it's like pulling teeth and difficult to remember) is enough to make me an effective guard, but I see an interesting RP opportunity there while I drag my apprentice along for the ride teaching all of you.
I'm rarely stolen from any more but I don't know my stealing and perception are enough to help anyone else. The Eye is a remarkable thing, but I'd have to test it out with a few thieves/rangers to see how useful I'd be.
