Now if only the java front end had that little bonus. I CAN play from work, but only through java.. it's amazing all the shortcuts you miss.

ooh I'm not the only one! I use it when I'm sneaking in time playing at work during the week, because it's more discreet and almost looks like a terminal window. When I work on weekends though I use Escape. Doesn't that work for you? (arrow keys work there).
Perhaps somebody can point us to a utility that can re-map keyboard keys...

The numberpad is usually embedded within the regular letter keys on a notebook (or at least it is on mine) and can still be used if you hold the "Fn" key. I enjoy being able to use the numberpad without ever leaving the home keys.

I could never use them that way. They are so askew, I might as well be typing N-S-E-W.

That's what I thought at first, but I quickly grew accustomed to it and it now saves me a lot of time.

Do you have Number Lock on? When mine's on, it's just numbers on the pad. But when it's off, it's the directions and my macro keys (Thank you * which is macroed to EXP. I use you the most).

Unfortunately no.. using some kinda unix network workstation, not a standalone computer. We use a 'virtual pc' to access Windows, won't work without the virtual machine download or something? I just can't download the necessary stuff. Even though it kills my hands to type it all out, I can get in some of the sit-in-one-place skills.
And to stay on topic.. sometime in the future when we finally get OUR version of the new FE, Stormfront.. maybe the Wizard will just be a fond memory. ;)

Is there a button to push on a laptop that works like pressing enter on the num pad to resend the last command sent to the wizard? I just got a laptop for Christmas and I can't figure the darn thing out!

CTRL-ENTER should do it, shouldn't it? And ALT-ENTER for the second-to-last command entered, IIRC.

My Memories on 03/11/2004 07:33 PM CST
I have been playing since DR was on AOL, I can remember a time before raise even existed. I left DR for quite awhile but now I am back to find all my family and friends are gone. It's sad but I guess I will have to make new friends. It's weird after being related to 2 really big familes, Sunnie and Sceth. The one thing I remember about before the web switch (where is my key darn it, oh yeah I lost it! sniff) is you could barely move the fog was so bad. Definitely much different now, as I never have fog. I think the best time I had was when Shard opened, that was so much fun and I remember all the really old clerics who hung around then. Wyett, Sofyia, Slaughterangele, Lilliana just to name a few. I also remember my very first fest where I accidently (doh!) missed buying a snake charm after the game crashed. My age is showing here...
Anyway I am also looking for some old friends of mine to see what happened to them. Specifically anyone know what happened to Erefayna, Loreali, or Sceth? Is there a forum for looking for missing family and friends?
I do miss the good old days, just not the fog!

And you just keep on making unreasonable requests!
Just because I'm a web server, and possibly a manic depressive one at that?
Why does that give you the right to tell me what to do?
Explain that then?

There's still some remnants of the enormous Sunnie clan.. Her two other twins (don't ask me, they're all loony!) are about, and me by marriage.. (to one of the loons wouldja believe).

Most of the people who played around that time and around the web move are all gone. They either moved on in life, or are GM's now. There are still a few around. Best way to find people is to listen to the Gweth or hang around the high traffic area's, you are sure to run into somebody that way.
I remember the name, and remember the people you listed. Even though the good ole day's will never be the same, atleast we have the memories to remind us that we were there, and they were special.

Some of us are still here from before the web move, and are definitely not GM's, and still play the same main character, and blah blah blah stuff like that.
The last time I saw Sceth was at a bay area get together at my house where we all got pretty drunk and ate, and someone lost an avocado pit in my kitchen, I am not naming any names but rumor has it, it was Sceth and Taffei.

I know sort of how you feel, it's the same for me. Although I was never a part of a family like you, I had many friends who trickled away from the realms. This month I celebrate exactly 7 years in DragonRealms, but everyone I knew from years back except for a couple of people are gone now. I recall your name, as well as the names of a few people you listed, and recall some fond memories of that bygone era myself.
Yeah, I miss them. I know that most, if not all, of them won't be coming back, and that I'll never hear from them again. As Sabashtin said, though, the memories are there.

So, some of my older memories....
(regarding perceive)
"Your head pounds as you perceive massive quantities of (insert-mana) mana flowing through the area"
So-and-so blinks and suddenly holds their head in pain.
(Regarding dragon's breath)
You splash some naphtha at offender and gesture at them.
Offender suddenly bursts into flames!
(Regarding crossbows)
Getting in a fight with someone who carried 6+ loaded crossbows, and proceeded to fire/drop/pull extra out of backpack/repeat.
Good times? Simpler times?
Hell, anyone else remember wearing/removing jadeite/kyanite gweths just to shatter them so you had the broken chain to fix to learn mechlore from?

Just to add:
Schvartz reminded me of addlestone (if ur still here..err..I knew that!)
All-time favorite kill:
My first naptha splash, at yotionblade, watching him become totally confused and not know whether to roll or run. He rolled I plunked him, he ran 2 rooms and rolled, I plunked, he ran 2 rooms and rolled, I plunked, till he was dead. Was the most satisfying kill I've ever had.

i remember :
you sense the presence of several finger-waggling ninnies...
i miss being able to do that as a trader/barbarian/thief/ <commoners couldn't do it, you'd only get a message about not being able to sense any type of mana in the area>
It's a number, it gets bigger. That's the whole DR experience right there

Hah, I remember that. "You perceive massive quantities of finger-waggling ninnies in the area".
If a barb/trader/thief managed to get you alone in the room, they could perceive your guild.
"You sense the presence of a lone, misguided (insert your magic-using guild) here"
I guess it was too powerful. Pretty hilarious though. I still think NMUs should be able to work runestones.
