So after many years of being gone, I reactivated my account this week, and feeling nostalgic, read this board for a trip down memory lane. Some of it made me sad, but most of it made me really happy, quite a few time I burst out into laughter over one story or another.

I felt compelled to contribute to the list of the people I miss the most, I think it's important, especially now with the closure of the Wren's Nest and the Scroll there gone. So I gathered a list of names, some of which have been remembered before, and some everyone else seemed to have forgotten. It seems right to remember these people, both in and out of character, because their characters and players both shaped the world we play in now. I wish I could find a list of the mentors back in 1997 when I joined them, I don't think I remembered them all, but they were some of the nearest and dearest to my heart. I still remember the night I finally became a mentor, it was a big surprise I didn't know about. Therae or Dreamheart (I forget which one!) just told me to come with him, and drug me to the mansion for a surprise party/meting. Those mentor meetings were hilarious, back before they got to be so serious. Anyone have that list of the original mentors?

Some of these I just have vague memories of meeting just a few times when I was brand new and Dreamheart took me around to introduce me around. I still remember she would say "This is Beckah, she is very special." I am lucky that I was befriended and protected by some of the brightest stars of the land, and I miss them. They were all extraordinarily kind to me, and spoiled me somewhere miles beyond rotten. If it wasn't for my highlight list, I admit I might have forgotten about a few of these myself.

I'll start thinking of some of my favorite moments and memories and post them here as well. I also have to say I agree with people that's it's easy to get caught up in pining for the good old days to the neglect of the current days, and I hope in my return that doesn't happen to me. Here's to finding the old friends that remain, and also to making new ones!!

Beckah! Welcome back! Wow, looking at some of those names both makes me smile and leaves me feeling sad at the same time. It's an odd feeling to consider the number of years it has been since some of them were last seen around.

Pretty funny that we can actually say "It's been over a decade since I saw so and so..."

How time flies when you're having fun!

If you're talking about IG stuff, a decade of in-game time is ~2.75 RL years, from what I recall.

A decade of RL time is just about 36 game years.

The player behind Danner is back as well. I don't believe he's been playing Danner at all though.

Says who?

Oh, wait, yeah... well, I do pop in prime every now and then to see if there are any names I recognize. Or to play my bagpipes for the heck of it.

Quite a list you've got there! Welcome back.

Does that mean you're playing in Plat? I just signed up for the free trial and am playing as Milady there, but every time I've logged in, it's all been deserted. Where in the world is everybody there?

I was talking a literal decade, I started playing in 1997 and haven't seen some of those people since then. But, even funner to say decades in the game!

If they are logged in, most are in Therengia around Lang/Theren--or were when I signed up last year. Unless there was an event happening/about to happen, Plat players avoided Crossing even more feverishly than Prime players do (and primes actually have an excuse to). I usually never saw anyone there between the hours of Monday and Thursday.

If you are referring to people logged in in general, the advent of the offline experience drain caused a bunch of people to log out and go play in Prime more.

J'Lo, I'm a ranger.. I'd believe anything.....

This one time when I'll say that Lofton's response on where we (Plat characters) are and hang out is not accurate.

Wildly inaccurate in fact. There are generally a few people about at any time during the day, but as you get towards the evening EST, people start popping out of the woodwork. Not to mention the various events that happen quite regularly. Was a rather interesting on the other night that involved chasing an insane gnome all over Shard and me nearly being eaten by gryphons.

Check the turtle over by the empath guild or the gate. Or just abuse Chatter (consider it IC though)!

As a warning however, you certainly will have more "quality time" with yourself than in the population heavy prime.

As a further Plat derailing...

If you haven't introduced yourself on the plat forums, go ahead and do so. People used to be fairly quick to respond to forums posts with help and info, although there always are a few skeptics who don't extend themselves until they decide you're not a curious tourist who won't stick for more than a few months.

Maybe one day I'll be able to reactivate my plat account :p
