I agree with that, I use the smile verb to get that feel now, but a simple:

say /thoguhtf ...you know, that chicken over there looks like it is a bit rumpled today, maybe she found a new rooster in town to flirt with."

Is a heck of a lot easier than:

smile slowly, her features drawn in contemplation as she asks in a thoughtful voice, "You know, that rooster over yonder looks a bit too pleased with himself today, perhaps I should check out the henhouse?"

Would be an awesome addition, good idea!
