I'm curious how these new tweaks will relate to thieve's AMBUSH maneuvers.

1) Since Backstab is a stealth/survival skill, will we no longer learn this on stunned mobs?

2) What about moves like ambush slash, where it specifically debilitates a critter for a follow up attack? If we can no longer learn on stunned critters, it seems like this move just lost a good bit of it's effectiveness. Or is the defense penalty seen as enough, and we can't have our cake and eat it too?

3) Lastly, would any consideration be made for a +1 situation for Thieves. IE...if we were to use one of the ambushes specifically designed to incapacitate (stun, slash), could we learn from 1 more hide/stalk?

I guess what i'm getting at is that ambush slash/stun/clout i've kind of used as catch-all training aids. Is it your goal to move them to purely weapon-training aids, since we'll be getting zero stealths off incapacitated critters?

I believe Backstab itself uses its own exp model. Ambush uses core stealth. (I could be wrong)

If you can successfully ambush the critters you did not actually need the ambushes to learn from them, so I have no idea why it would hinder your stealth training. The ambushes are harder than normal stealth manuevers, so if you managed to get to melee and slash them... you should be sitting pretty. If you did need help, you should be using ambush sight/screen, which debuff their perception and are easy.

I don't really see a need for it, as above.

I am a new thief. I think the 0 - 100 rank tweak (for newb playability/new pc generation), mentals, justice/ stealing systems, khri changes...it is all really, really amazing. Newbie gameplay is night and day compared with before a number of recent changes. Being a noobler used to be complete hell. Not to mention the great new highlights to info and a number of other sundry releases. It feels like so much has changed, and a lot of it has changed for the much better.

Just wanted to say that.

Z, could you please look at the experience granted for backstabbing.

Since these changes it is taking substantially longer to train the skill into higher mindstates, let alone mind lock. I object that the number one offensive skill of a thief, backstab, takes longer to learn than other guilds primary offensive skills (TM/Weapons).

My experiences are in raiders, with around 400 backstab. For reference, I can lock hiding/stalking much easier than BS despite a greater than 100 rank disparity between the skills (Hiding or stalking > BS). I took note of and recognize the different positions of the skills in relation to wall ranks, but I believe something may not be working as intended. Could you please take a look? Thanks in advance.

I'll see about dealing with backstab experience separately since it's meant to be an attack.
