I noticed that it only starts using larger coin sizes for gold and platinum, but what determines decimals? At first, I thought it was as long as the decimal only went one point in, but it doesn't seem to be consistent.

some gypsy marauders for 3500 Kronars
a silver chased clasp for 5500 Kronars
a glittering topaz and gold clasp for 1.6 platinum Kronars
a star-etched carving knife for 4 gold Kronars

Why aren't the first two 3.5 gold and 5.5 gold kronars?

Probably is based on how many digits there are. Or when the price gets to platinum.

>>At first, I thought it was as long as the decimal only went one point in, but it doesn't seem to be consistent.

Basically, I started collapsing the numbers when they started to get unmaintainable - I feel like '3500' is a really easy number to grok, but when you start getting into '30000' it starts to become a sea of zeroes where you have to stop and think. If I add things like 3.5 gold, it will also be expected to add 3.5 silver and 3.5 bronze, when in reality people are more comfortable with '350' and '35'.

The question of consistency vs readability is a tough one. I might go with a decimal for golds but leaving all three digits for silvers and below, if that makes it more readable. Informal poll?

My personal preference is that if values such as 4000 Kronars are going to be displayed as 4 gold Kronars then I'd like to see all values(including 3500) at or above 1000 Kronars displayed with decimals. Anything below would just be Kronars and would have all the place values.

Haven't checked it out In Game yet but looks like a really awesome release :)

Thank you Socharis.

5 gold+ = collapse into decimal equivalent for gold/plat eg 5000 = 5 gold kronars, 6600 = 6.6 gold kronars, 133894 = 13.4 plat kronars, 2001 = 2001 copper kronars

less than 5 gold = full copper equivalent

I can dig it. Unless anybody really hates gold notation without silver and bronze notation I'll probably do that.

Please do it. I hate counting zeroes to see whether an item is 50 plat or 500 plat.

On a completely unrelated note, decimals for auctions would be great, too.

Xxxxx just bid 14001617 lirums!

Did they just completely smash by bid by 1000 plat or did they only bid at a slightly bigger increment? No way of finding out without counting digits, all while the game is scrolling furiously!

I'd post that in the Suggestions forum. Auctions are totally out of my scope for now.

Not likely in the near future. Entirely too much on my plate at the moment. But it's already on the list.

How would this affect the standard notation that many Traders use for putting 2-3 numbers at the end of a long price to indicate the weight of a weapon, or number of charges on a gweth?

Could it be changed so that a price of something like 150025 (price/weight of a LE dao) or 250153 (price/weight of an LP balaclava) could be listed as "15 platinum and 25 kronars" and "25 platinum and 153 kronars" respectively?

Or better yet if there was a way for the Trader to write a short note so that the price was 150000 kronars would be shown as "15 platinum kronars, 25 stones" (with the bolded part being the short note input by the Trader), that could work awesome too

If I had to pick, I'd rather just have everything silver and under be 1-999 kronars, and the Traders who used bronze/copper pricing to point out weights got a way to add stone weight to the tags.

That, or allow Traders to install a "MAMA's Certified scale" in their shop, so when someone uses the SHOP verb in a room tagged with it, the verb also includes weight information.

Will an item being sold for 60123 Kronars be displayed as 6.0123 Platinum Kronars, 6 Platinum Kronars or 60123 Kronars?

I have plans to do something like this sometime. It's a lot better than trying to accommodate all of the clever ways you guys store information.
