So, is it intentional that you can't ask the warden to take you to a shop, like you can in Crossings?
Also, I was highly confused by the board itself; does it simply list all the shops in the plaza? Because I was trying to shop at Katya's, and the board said it was open, but the actual entrance was closed. I know in Crossings the closed ones don't show up.

It works differently in Crossing because of the sheer number of shops. The board only there only lists open shops and the guards will guide you to it since there's so many rooms and portals and stuff.
The other markets are smaller and much easier to manually navigate, so the board lists all shops because they fit in a reasonably sized table, but highlights the open ones. The layout is also super simple, so finding a shop manually doesn't take much time at all. (Note: If you are using Genie then the board highlights don't show up. It's an issue with the way Genie parses the incoming data, because looking at the raw feed shows that there is indeed a <monsterbold> tag there. I've already posted about it on the genie forums, but I doubt it's high on anyone's priority list to get fixed. Perhaps a plug-in would work, but I'm not versed in plug-in development.)

I forgot to note that there's a little blurb at the bottom of the list when you read it that indicates what the highlights mean, although you wouldn't know to look for it if using Genie, since there aren't any highlights to see.

You can also go here: http://www.elanthia.org/TraderShops/ and it has a list of all shops and fairly up to date inventory. There's a page that also tells who owns which shops and the shops hours. Easiest way to see if something you're looking for is in any shop really.
