Beyond weapon and armor enchanting I hope that a very detail item enchanting system is created. I think that enchanting would be the solution to low mana areas as well some ways to supplement our spells (and advanced summons (here’s hoping)). This will also give a viable, none hunting, lore based economic skill that buyers extends beyond Warrior Mages. This goes along with my idea posted earlier about not having to use spells to enchant.

Here are some example items, all that simply require MD skill to use, but various skills to create.

Shock Shield

Iron ingot, wire, calvarite

Shock Shields are slender wand-like devices worn by a person on their belt. Whenever a discharge of electrical energy is aimed in their direction the shock shields catch the energy and store it. The shock shield can only take so many hits before it breaks apart itself. If you are skilled enough and know the right sigils you can have it so the shock shield creates a discharged field instead of absorbing bolts and ward off spells like Chain Lightning for a time.

Frost Orbs

Glass sphere, water

This small device is one use only as when thrown the glass shatters and the water inside freezes what it hits. It can cause nasty cold damage when hitting the face, neck or torso. When it impacts an arm or leg it can immobilize the limb causing the lost of use of a weapon or shield or the ability to retreat or advance or even dodge properly. Requires a proper case to hold them unless you want to chip the rest of your gear out with an icepick.

Illuranel’s Fountain

Bowl, vase, jar, or chalice

Simple device creates a constant flow of water while the power of the enchantment last. The container cannot be picked up while overflowing with water due to the sheer weight. The water is as pure as one can find and suitable for alchemy and healing potions. The amount the vessel fills and how long it will last is all based on the skill of the Warrior Mage that created the Fountain.

Vial of Silence

Vial or bottle

When uncorked a vial of silence will release an enchantment that stills the air. Only the person holding the vial can speak and be heard.

Naphtha Bolt

Vial of naphtha

When a vial of naphtha has special fire sigils carved on it, it changes shape to that of a slender bolthead that can be attached to any crossbow bolt. Like Frost Orbs they must be special stored of risk going off on accident. Once fired they will shatter and the enchantment will activate and ignite the naphtha in an impressive pyrotechnic display.

Firulf’s Staff

Halberd, pike or quarterstaff type weapon and a wristcuff

Even though this enchantment suggest a weapon for the main component it creates something used better without swinging. This enchantment changes the weapon by creating a focused matrix similar to ball lightning at the top of the polearm. Thrust into the ground the enchantment takes effect and Firulf’s Staff will begin to fire bolts of lightning sporadically at different targets. Like ball lightning the staff will not target players unless the holder of an accompanying wristcuff directs it too. Only the person wearing the accompanying wristcuff can lift the staff from the ground but the staff can be engaged and destroyed like any creature.

Sand Elemental Keystone

Wearable jewelry with piece of malachite in it, gemstone

A complex enchantment, it requires a piece of jewelry with some amount of malachite within it for the main enchantment. Once the malachite has been enchanted a gem needs have earth sense cast on it and then the enchantment is ready for use. Tapping the gem to the jewelry will activate the enchantment, the gem is then dropped and sand and rock begin to gather around it, soon a creature composed of sand and rock is standing near the owner of the jewelry waiting for commands. The golem can carry various items for the controller or fight for them at their command. How long the golem last and how much damage it can withstand all depends on the creators skill in enchanting.

Those look great!

~Kashik,
...if those were implemented, it would almost make me want to become a War Mage ;)...

Like the frost/fire bolts. Dunno about immunity to lightning stuff though.

The shock shield would not be foolproof. If you had a Mage of around 20th circle in skill shield go up against a lightning bolt powered by the skills of 60th level mage, the shield is going to lose.

thanks for the commments.
