Do warrior mages have an actual mech lore requirement now? I just noticed I was told I needed more 3rd lore (mech lore) and it made me wonder if any lore could be filling that requirement. Or is there still a need to be training mech.? Does it get used for anything past circle 40?

Thanks!

Any lore. I replaced mech lore with forging. I am keeping my mech lore to convert to enchanting when that is released.

It is also currently still required to make talismans, although only 100 ranks are necessary for the current most difficult. I'm not sure if it has been updated to be a hybrid requirement like locksmithing which uses the highest of your mech lore or engineering ranks. If not then that would be nice to do so Warrior Mages aren't beholden to mechanical lore, especially once enchanting comes out.

Ok, that's helpful to know. Especially about keeping it to convert to enchanting! Thank you.

It's also worth noting that our Scholarship requirement is a soft requirement, so you can use it as one of your lores as well. My 3 lores for circling are Tactics, Appraisal, and Scholarship, so that I never have to leave combat for training. As befitting a Warrior Mage.

How are you reliably training scholarship in combat? I've only managed it with clerics because communes teach it.

Compendiums train it just fine. If that's your thing.

I imagine a compendium or crafting book coupled with occasional retreating.

For some stupid reason I always forget 'retreat;retreat;study' is an ok thing in combat. I always consider combat training 'can I do it without retreating'. Which isn't a condemnation, just me being stupid.

RECALL <critter>

It has a timer on it so it can't be spammed. I typically use it every kill and it will move Scholarship to 3/34. It doesn't lock it but if you spend most of your time in combat it is a way to keep it moving without dealing with books and retreating. A hunting partner is a good way to keep it moving, also.

I had no clue that even taught. Recall cleric stuff used to teach but was nixed so I assumed all of them were.

The timer on recall is super long, so every critter is a bit much and will end up in a lot of wasted time. I think I try it every 5 minutes or so, and even then that doesn't work. It takes like 20 minutes almost. But I just have it on the secondary script that I run to handle time based things like hunt.

Doesn't recall critter stop teaching at relatively low ranks or capping at combat levels? I seem to remember both my bard and my moon mage not being able to learn it from creatures anymore, so I took it out of my scripts.

I'd hardly call it "working" the skill lol I can get to 2/34 or 3/34 depending on if it hits just right. It's enough to put some % a day into the skill. As it's not a circling skill for me, it's just another way for me to do it. Meh

No, I mean it literally doesn't teach me at all. Not even a single bit of experience. In both my character's cases Scholarship is a fair bit higher than what the combat skills of what I hunt teach to, so that might be it.

that could be it. My schol is about 100-150 ranks behind my combats?

Same here. I'm pretty sure it is a skill contest so you won't learn it if it is higher than your combats. It's a simple way to move the skill when you spend most of your time in combat, though.

To be clear, 2 hours in combat just now and I hit +0.10 in schol. It's nothing game breaking by any means.

I believe the recall timer is 25 minutes. My script does is every 26 minutes to be safe, and it teaches every time.

My scholarship is like 900 ranks behind my highest combat skills, so things are definitely a bit out of whack, but it teaches amazingly well. My script counts RTs, and measures skills by how many mind states you get per minute of RT. So a skill that locks in 15 minutes will be about 2 mind states per minute. Scholarship gives me 48 mind states per minute with recall. It's incredibly efficient, though it's also incredibly slow due to the long timer.

I just tested on my usual hunting critter. With Scholarship 50-150 above my combat skills, I did get to 3/34 from recalling the critter.

I was just using a compendium and/or teaching while hunting with someone and teaching in RP situations. Between RP and compendiums, it's never been an issue for me - I've got my tert lore requirements done for 40 cirlces ahead of where I am. The tert lore requirement is pretty low.

> Recall

Wow. I didn't even know about this! Thanks for the heads up.

I set it up on a new character. A few hours later he's gone from 4 ranks to 6, so the timer is long and the reward is minuscule.
