Good AFternoon,

Does anyone know the following (assuming you have all spells and forging technique requirements)...

Which metals qualify for "very rare" status capable of boosting tier 4 weapons to tier 5?

How much volume is considered "enough" to avoid quality loss?

Does quality loss affect the summoned weapon? AKA, over time if I took a 99 quality glaes ingot down to 20 quality would it hurt my summons?

How does this scale with summoning ranks? I only have 275 today, would I be nuking expensive quality ingots over and over? Or would I be stuck carrying around 300 stones worth of glaes just to do this without burning tons of cash (in the form of reduced quality material)?

Thanks!
Ligian

Anything with a higher value then platinum is what I've seen stated.

At a certain quality it will fail to raise the weapon to tier 4/5

Other questions I have no idea.

Is it by value or just rarity? I know animite, kertig, haralun, damite, glaes and any quest metals (tyrium, silversteel, orichalcum, kadepa, vardite) work, but I'm not sure about lumium, niniam, darkstone and muracite (mainly because I don't know if that last group is more rare than platinum/gold, which were the ones highlighted that didn't count as rare materials).

It's a behind the scenes rarity tier. It just happens that that tier coincides with "appraises more valuably than platinum". So none of lumium, niniam, darkstone or muracite will work.

Yup, this. The only reason I stated it that was because it's the best way to be able to group them all together for easier comparison on the list of rare crafting metals section of the wiki.

Essentially very rare is haralun, damite, glaes, kertig, and animite. Uniques and quest treasure are the 'or greater' distinction of 'very rare or greater' and include audrualm, orichalcum, kadepa, icesteel, silversteel, vardite, and tyrium. Possibly niello, but we don't really know what tier that actually qualifies as yet.

I personally wouldn't use the unique or quest ones for it, because the others are relatively easier and cheaper to obtain and there's no difference in the effect between using them. I.e. stick to using mined haralun, damite, glaes, kertig, or animite for the most bang for your buck.

Makes sense. I'm always fuzzy when it comes to darkstone and muracite's rarity, because for whatever reason I find that are rarely as I do the actual very rare metals, hah.

So knowing that "haralun, damite, glaes, kertig, or animite for the most bang for your buck.".

How much volume is enough to resist quality or volume losses? 5 volume? 20 volume? 200 volume?

Just trying to set a savings goal to save up for an ingot that I could use for a while.

Depends on your summoning skill, which is PAFO.

The only hint we've been given is over 1500 ranks for a 1 volume ingot to not degrade.
