I know this has probably been asked before, but what exactly are the reasons I should train Charisma? I've been told that it has some huge effect, but what exactly does it do for us?

charisma boosts:
your ability to cut through magic resistance.
the chances of your fir familiar dragging you when you get stunned.
extends time before auto depart.

Charisma is a factor in every stat vs. stat spell contest (SvA, SvS, and SvW). Its contributions are minor relative to other stats in those contests though.

I was under the impression Charisma and Discipline were the most important stats in all of them.

Not really. They aren't even used in the defense of two of the three contests. I think the following is still pretty accurate

SvA:
offense: disc, charis, agil, reflex
defense: agil, reflex.

SvS:
offense: disc, charis, strength, stamina
defense: strength, stamina.

SvW
offense: disc, charis, intel.
defense: disc, charis, intel.

I was speaking only of the caster side of the equation. It looks like discipline is more important than charisma, but I'm still pretty sure charisma is close.

Not magic-related, but Charisma also affects the multi-opp penalty you impose upon another person or creature, which can be useful in invasions, quests, or day-to-day group hunting.
