Could we maybe get a "back door" entrance into the earth room or "Elemental Guide" and a watcher window in the floor of the water room for magic users of any guild to take their challenges out.

With the differences of brawling and weapons being turned off since it's suppose to be a magic combat?

Maybe an "entry fee" could be imposed and taken by the elemental that leads the mage into the arena.

Further developement after we get this far?

If there were no cost or sacrifice involved, there wouldn't be any benefits worth learning, and the entire system would be pointless. --GM Wythor

I think it would end up as underused as the barbarian arena.

Give free instant heals after each match and maybe you'll see the activity pick up in each.

The healing wouldn't be free. That's what the entry fee was for.

The healing wouldn't be instant, want instant healing go play in the test instance. Healing mechanics would still apply.

Maybe an entry fee for the barb arena would help too

And as far as I'm aware the barb arena isn't used now because
A) Only thieves and Barbs can fight effectively, since magic is turned off.
and
B) Hiding is turned off.

However,
Lets not forget....
I think they actually closed it, but it's been so long...

There is already a plan on a possible way to deal with the situation. That area and problem are just not very high on the priority list, so it's not going to change very soon. There are much cooler things like Sentinels and TM spells that have Wythor's attention.

Since you're going to ask..the last plan was to allow low level newb mages to fight out front to test magic. It gives them a bit of a social area to try things and ask questions. Higher levels would get warnings from elementals to stop if they tried to pick fights. However, there would be a trail/path to a new room behind the guild for all out grudge matches.

As far as stealing, the room outside the guild would adopt the same mechanics used inside the guild.

I'm sure Wythor will correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the plan I remember. I could careless about it all if though, I'd rather see other dev.

No it wouldn't.

And that would make an arcane arena get little to no use if you turn off weapons and brawling.

Who suggested that? I thought the whole point of pointing to the pits was to say, "Don't limit our options. We won't use it."

I'm not sure why magic is such a big deal in the pit, a barb dancing dragon is practically untouchable by magic anyway. At least my 150th barb is against someone with at least 1200 PM

Cute verbs and speaking from hiding are excellent ways to catch a lightning bolt in the face regardless of mystical ninja abilities.

It's good that you added that part.

This is the OP's line:

>>With the differences of brawling and weapons being turned off since it's suppose to be a magic combat?

I agree in that limited options makes people not want to use it. I believe the GMs are fully aware of the kind of arena systems most people want as Jhime mentioned, it's just not high on the priority list.

I think the issue is more they CAN use magic than we can't use magic. But yeah it's their pit, yadda yadda yadda. I don't use it anyways.

Personally I think I should be able to decapitate Vinjince and go to the top of the board.
