I didn't want to post in thieves, they get grumpy when I invade. Is evasion the only thing you can train against backstab?
Stance was at 100 parry 82 evasion, capped SUF and SW, with Heavy Plate armor lightly hindering me, Sapara in my right hand and a thief probably...15 to 20 circles below me was getting light and good shots on me. I wasn't attempting to parry at all, just evading. Tried playing with stances, even put away my parry stick and used just the sapara.
My parry is almost 1/3 higher than my evasion.
Any information would be great.

>>Is the contest backstab vs. perception or hiding vs. perception?
The conest is backstab vs. perception.
However, I have reason to believe that a Thief's hiding ranks will bonus his backstab in the contest. I've failed the backstab contest before when I've had about 150 ranks more perception than said Thief's backstab, and he wasn't using any buffs to boost his backstab skill. That's where it gets kind of crazy to me, but oh well.
