I would not mind nearly so much if the decay clock did not start immediately... whether the orb is actually being used or not.
If someone is taking the foresight to extract an orb that they do not need (right now), but is planning for the future instead, they should NOT be punished by having it degrade while it sits in the locker.
PARTICULARLY not... since anyone who owns a shop has the opportunity to stash it in there, and NOT have it decay.

The moment it gets clicked into a Fusion slot? Absolutely, timer starts at +1 second. But until then? No. It ought not be running yet.

I've actually been wanting this changed for awhile. It appears as though this was well thought out too and most concerns are accounted for. I've noticed, having read player responses, several people either didn't read or didn't comprehend what was posted based on their complaints. Glad I'm not a GM, lol. I know it's just a design proposal, but I'm pulling for it to go through.

I had some more thoughts about this.
- First, is this in fact going to move ahead?
Why? Because I'm looking at Duskruin looming up on my calendar for next month.

- Second, anything with "+ ranks" (skill) should convert over as "value +1" (so "3 ranks" becomes "4 bonus").
Why? Because ranks are much more valuable and a bigger payoff--like "5 ranks of MOC" for someone who has 0, or any of the Lores (which are completely rank-driven), and "early ranks of Mana Control" for cross-Realm sending--and just doing a straight-across 1:1 pretty much screws those folks who were willing to pay the extra recharging costs to get Ranks in the first place.

Believe the proposal was to switch everything to ranks, not bonus, and cut the recharging cost to be roughly the same as it was for bonus. Should be generally better all around.
I still support this (and for ascension too). It adds almost no value to have a distinction between ranks and bonus for enhancives & ascension. I imagine basically no one really effectively takes advantage of using ranks over bonus. (Other than maybe some fusion edge cases or something.) And if they do, it's hardly a balance issue, since it only matters for skills you don't train in, or for low level characters.
