I've been curious about what weapons and properties people find attractive for a while and was inspired by LEAFIARA's cleric survey to create one of my own. I figured now was a good time to release it since the cleric one's wrapped up and the next profession survey won't come out for a while.
I'll run the survey for 8 days or as long as a good flow of responses keeps coming in (whichever is longer), no information that could identify you or your characters is collected or requested by me, and I'll create a publicly viewable summary once it's completed (to ensure it's an easier read). If any NIR are interested in the raw results, feel free to poke me at my play.net and I can make it available to you.
The survey can be found here: https://forms.gle/zRxJh1pzdyd9NpKX8

Eep! I dunno how that happened... added them both in but I'll have to remember to make a note about the number of responses that already came in when I do the summary.
And wow.... 13 responses between 1AM and 9AM eastern on a Sunday, wasn't expecting to wake up to that many. Keep them coming folks!

Holy schmolly... 34 responses in just over then 18 hours! Keep them coming folks, I'm especially liking the responses to the last two comments.... but the results so far are disrupting as many of my assumptions as they're confirming. I can't wait for the week to pass so I can release the summary!

Yer, def illuminating. The impression you get reading forums doesn't always match up to the one you get when the lurkers let their voices be heard.

<Just because people hold themselves back from entering into the fray on most occasions does NOT make them lurkers.>
Anyone that reads without posting is lurking regardless of the reason.... there's no negative connotations to the term that I'm aware of, but I guess there's no such thing as one that won't cause offense to at least one person....

<What do you mean by 'one person'?!?!?>
Not sure where the confusion is... partly due to being distracted by seeing more sorcerers trained to use two-handed weapons then either brawling or OHE....

I was attempting to make a funny by being offended by your remark.

I'm going to close the survey tomorrow (Sunday) morning, prolly around 10-11 eastern time (depending on when I can drag myself out of bed), so if you this is your last chance if you haven't filled it out already: https://forms.gle/BM4j2RNndcXc6bwY9
I'll have the results ready for public viewing by the afternoon... after I've had a chance to sort through and organize the write-in responses.

Whew.... took longer to get the summary done then I thought, but it can now be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1261Bv1WD3VtiF1CqZyf8KNgXn1hunWoaI8WUt2tNUyA/edit?usp=sharing
I've also switched the survey it's self to show the results to those that took it. I'm not sure if that will actually work if you return to the survey or not, but I tried.
I also have the responses copied onto a google spreadsheet, if there's anyone interested in receiving a copy email my play.net and I'll email a version you should be able to edit to make your own pretty tables/graphs.

Re: Weapon Survey on 04/08/2019 07:46 AM CDT
Interesting read on stuff. Just wanted to point out a typo:
Under "Question 3-9: Which XXXX weapons do you use with one or more characters?"
TWC: Maul 18, Claidhmore 12, Katana 10, Two-handed sword 8, Battle axe 7, Bastard sword 6, Flamberge 3, War Mattock 3, Flail 1, Quarterstaff 1
I think you meant to put in THW and not TWC. Unless you got folks that found a way to use these weapons for two weapon combat.

I don't know what you're talking about... I don't see any such typo ;)

I am astonished at the low turnout for broadswords. Although i have no ohe characters just now, it is invarably my first choice when i do.
Also, +1 on the desire to make uac play with berserk.

Better than rain or rippling brook,

OHE: Falchion 27, Handaxe 20, Longsword 11, Short sword 10, Katana 5, Dagger 5, Katar 3, Main Gauche 2, Backsword 2, Whip-blade 1, Bastard sword 1, Broadsword 1
Oh, hey. I thought katars were already plenty powerful, but now that I know the playerbase disagrees, I can ask for buffs. :D (Yeah, I know, part of it is the requirement for two weapon skills...)
I love the ability to craft a unique weapon that is specifically designed for each character. I try to make the weapon a part of each character's roleplay. From the description to the mechanical traits of the weapon, each aspect is tailored to the character.
Ooh, this reminds me of two things I forgot to say:
1 - Using a weapon with your own crafting mark is incredibly satisfying and a great talking point. Or even someone else's crafting mark, for that matter, as long as it's a known character. "Did you know this weapon was made by master forger Clunk? Finest blacksmith in Zul Logoth..."
2 - The variety of ways to upgrade weapons (as opposed to runestaves) is fantastic. There's perfect forging. There's the possibilities of materials having more mechanical effect--sanctified metals, flaring metals, low steel, high steel, ghezyte, coraesine. And just in general there are more script flare choices available. It really is hard to run out of awesome ideas for melee weapons.
