High Steel needs help. From the sound of it, you would think it's superior to Low Steel, but it is not. Nothing is more apparent of this fact than that High Steel has been lowered in price (150k bloodscrip, -50k) in the HESS and Low Steel has increased in price (300k bloodscrip, +100k).

Since Low Steel provides the very awesome mind wrack flares (a damage over time that works), perhaps High Steel could provide a CS Boost, a Mana Regeneration Effect, an Experience Boost, etc etc. in addition to its properties of being the bane against extraplanar creatures.

Other thoughts,

High Steel merely needs to be present in the room with an ithzir to prevent their fading ability.
Example: Character A and Character B are in a room. Character A is wearing a suit of high steel chain mail. Also in the room, an ithzir champion. The ithzir champion is prevented from fading out to due the presence of Character A's suit of high steel chain mail regardless of whether Character A or Character B swings a weapon or casts a spell.

High Steel applies a debuff upon hit via a weapon or maneuver with an armor or shield that lasts for 60 seconds and prevents ithzir fading ability as well as applying a crit modifier for all attacks (via weapons or spells) against the target.

It would also be nice if Extraplanar Bane (EPB) stopped Ithzir from fading as this would be the only way for spell casters to currently gain this advantage as their are no high steel runestaves. For something priced at 400k BS it doesn't seem unreasonable in my mind.

As I gaze over the horizon, the wind tugs at my cloak and whispers, "Adventure" in my ear.

A squeaky halfling nearby asks, "Why you playing with orcs heads and troll rearends?!"

The main issue with high steel is that it is so narrow in scope. Preventing fading on a hit is good! The built in armor bane is interesting, and the 'stop ithzir from getting Combat Advantage when they fade in' is also good! But it just isn't good anywhere BUT OTF, compounded with the fact that its not that good.

Comparing it to low steel is kinda beside the point. Low Steel has a (sort of) unique flare thats good anywhere against anything.

What high steel needs is a unique and interesting effect that is good anywhere against anything.

Mechanics aside, the Lore of High Steel is that it fights things not of this plane. Maybe that can be extended to anything 'unnatural' and allow it to hit Undead without a bless (without it taking up a slot, have it be inherent to the material). Suddenly its unique, desirable, and people have a reason to use it in Not OTF.

My only request for high steel, is that I be allowed to choose between AS or weighting.

That auction at Shenanigans for "low steel flares added onto anything" was pretty tasty.

Just sayin'. :)
