I've already emailed the officer list, but I wanted to share this information with everyone:

For the last three, almost four years, I have been your guru, and I have loved every instant of it. However, the last year has seen my spare time slip away, and you have all felt the brunt of that lack of time, as I've fallen farther and farther behind for you. We've made too many strides since I took over in 2007 to backslide -- so this month I realized that I needed to do the right thing, even though it's harder than I thought possible -- it's time to pass the baton to a new GM.

In an act of incredible serendipity, at the time I finally admitted to myself that I would not be able to devote the time to you that you deserve and that no amount of wishful thinking on my part would change that, GM Alyias approached me about coming back to active staff. He was one of my first mentors when I came on board as a GM in late 2006, and he is an amazing GM who loves the CHE. Who better?

It's a new year, and a glorious one for the CHE -- we're celebrating twenty years! And you deserve the best. GM Alyias is going to continue where I left off, improving the CHE and being there for you.

I'm going to be transitioning him over the next few weeks (and of course doing the anniversary event!), getting him caught up on what I should be doing and when and how, etc. However, he's already hit the ground running and has almost cleared the entire CHE coding queue that has been waiting for a coder for so long. You've already seen HOUSE EJECT. He's currently working on the dues system. A rewrite to the crier system should be available to you soon, allowing more criers to be saved and better verbiage for using it (and on the GM end, a more clear way to actually review it).

I will miss you all. I have loved my job as CHE guru more than just about anything -- it was an amazing fit for me, and I was thrilled to work on this side of a system I'd been an officer of in various capacities since 1997. Bear with us as we transition and be excellent to Alyias -- he's going to be wonderful at this!
