Oh... I'll play, since I'm wide awake at this ridiculous hour (or it was when I started typing)...
BASICS:
1) What is your character's name? Berkana LeJardine
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion? Definitely female, somewhere in her early hundreds (though level 98), Dark Elf, Faendryl, pick COL or Eorginian for religion.
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why? Hah, being a woman, and that is the one word. The others come and go depending upon her mood or their relevance. Sometimes to amuse, both myself and others, I play her to parody. Anyone who takes it as serious or thinks her actions are serious often totally misses the point of my roleplay. It's not meant to be subtle -- roleplaying isn't limited to only nuancing.
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!) An accidental entertainer of all manner often for the amusement of others.
RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it? No... but she does have a nickname.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character. She once teased over the amunet that she was going where Terate could not find her, then turned around to find he'd followed her into the Common Room of House Brigatta. And then he killed her.
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment? I've never played D&D.
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.) Nightshade.
5) What is their favorite food? What a choice... either the quail on the House Brigatta sideboard or dark chocolate.
6) What is their most treasured possession? Her grimoire. It was made years and years ago -- the first one in the lands -- by GM Aelsidhe, who died unexpectedly.
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution? Membership in House Brigatta.
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why? Wow, never had her given any thought to this, but I'd go with Fash'lo'nae, because he's mischief.
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it. Oh dear... so hard to chose from all her alterations. But, falling into the personal column, it would have to be: "an onyx-bound vaalin collar" -- Twisted strands of black vaalin are braided and bound with fittings of silver-edged scarlet despanals. A star-shaped lock encircled with a ring of red eahnor serves to bind the collar snugly.
It bears the inscription: "Berkana ~ Though darkness fills us both, you are my light. ~ Shanng"
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now? Ugh. Three of her main sanctuaries gone. Up on the Seethe Naedal trail. Technically, it's not IN town. Or in the Rhoska-Tor ruins, even though they haven't been found yet.
LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time you're not logged in? She's a pretty serious deep thinker of all things, despite often playing the comedian card.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives? Be extremely wealthy and an important philanthropist.
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up? Being one of the many in a cult group of girls serving Eorgina.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense? Since 1996 I believe, pretty much consistently, except for a small break I took while my father was very ill and then passed away in 2011. She used to be much more reserved and quiet, now she is more social and occasionally can be a bit brazen.
FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal? For Eorgina to accept her into service on whatever plane she exists these days.
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game? She'd find a fresh little Eorginian to mentor -- not someone's alt, but truly a newbie player.
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.) Some kind of oracle artifact. I would need to give some design time thought to this.
IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are? Yes, her true friends get her and understand that sometimes her sense of humor is one way of keeping people emotionally at a safe distance... or letting them in. And then, no, also because of the above.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes? There are some players who do totally, and I'll let them into my life. But those who get hung up on their assumptions, make judgements, listen to and spread rumors, etc., really have no clue, and they don't get to know the real me ever.
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players? Meh, not so much. I don't feel I need to explain her to people on an ongoing basis. Perhaps if we're all talking philosophically.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.) I don't think they have much impact, especially given how slight they happen. If she was that complex that I felt I needed to frequently explain to people who or what or why she is, then I'm obviously trying way too hard during my roleplaying instead of letting it flow naturally.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is? Probably that she has a quicksilver temper she keeps very much under control, and works not to let flare -- that's because she's afraid to be out of control emotionally. I'm sure people mistake her for being a pushover.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out? I'll ask them questions, show interest in them.
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character? Only slightly peripherally and recently -- Melisandre in "Game of Thrones."
FINALLY:
>1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority? Currently, the order would be: House, deity, profession, society, race, culture.
>2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever) I'd say yes, but know I would grieve the loss.
>3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal RP event. I'm not sure there's been just one, likely it's not been a storyline, but more her personal relationships.
>4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at? Hah, to be immortal and serve as a half-Arkati servant to Eorgina.
>5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions? Liars, dishonesty in people, passive-aggressive manipulaters, those who use others as puppets because they suck at communicating themselves. Use your words, folks.
>6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters? My caring and trusting nature.
>7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you? At first, no, but since starting, Alixi's player and I decided we were half-sisters. No affect whatsoever other than something fun to do. I've often seen "family" played so poorly and incestuously that I pretty much stayed away from that aspect here.
8) What is your character's favorite drink? A shot of Elanthian Comfort or a good, dry red wine.
9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type? Berkana is the Black Widow of Elanthia -- she dates them for a short while and they disappear (the majority of them have gone on to have real life girlfriends, hard to compete with that!). She wasn't the relationship type before, when she was younger, but now that she's matured, I think she'd make a good partner.
10) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special? Yes she does, and if she told you, then everyone would go there and ruin her solitude. It's in the Landing. She just feels an affinity for the place and it appeals to her darker nature.
11) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss? Berkana misses Mithumbras the most, and some of her older friends who have wandered off. As a player, I mostly miss Karen, the woman behind GM Aelsidhe, who had become a good friend.
BASICS:
1) What is your character's name? Berkana LeJardine

Re: A little RP survey... on 01/10/2013 10:40 AM CST
I grew bored with powerhunting so I decided to do this with another
BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
>>Maetriks Ta'Mori
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
>>Female, 75, Dark Elf, Faendryl, Eorginian
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
>>Faendryl, I would have to say. Because her culture and what she believes is expected of her, highly influences her motives and things.
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
>>As long as it serves her best interest, she will take part.
RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
>>Nope. She's lucky enough to have a first name.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
>>She still feels guilty, though it doesn't show, that she was the cause of her mother's death when she was born.
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
>>Somewhere between Chaotic Neutral and Chaotic Evil.
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
>>Alizarin red
5) What is their favorite food?
>>Blood. Not necessarily a food, but it has enough nutrients to keep her going.
6) What is their most treasured possession?
>>Her engagement ring, even though she's married. An eahnor-inlay engagement ring: A tapered band of blood red despanal fades to near black as it twines about. Rich crimson eahnor has been inlaid into the surface of the ring is a delicate pattern of thorned filligree and tendrils. A single black diamond has been bezel-set into the top of the ring, the light reflecting off the sheer angles of its princess-cut.
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
>>Her clan specifically. She won't do anything to jeopardize the closest thing to family she's ever known. What they do, she will do as well. Except Mystiq. She hates that bastard child.
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
>>Would have to be... Amasalen. Should be self-explanatory. He was Faendryl, he was made immortal. Which Faendryl would argue against that?
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
>>a polished lor adorned alchemy case: A light lacquer covers the silvery lor of this case, lightly highlighting the beautiful wood grain. Along the lid is engraved an elaborately detailed Faendryl crest, which is surrounded by a filigree of engraved vines. Platinum hinges attach the lid to the base while a single obsidian latch with a web-etched blood and black despanal serves to secure it. Alizarin red fur lines the inside of the case and small compartments serve to separate different components and tools.
>>This was something I had made midway into Mae's alchemy training. I settled on this design because it incorporated several key traits of her personality while also serving to be a case for other Ta'Mori who would wish to take up alchemy as well.
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
>>Specifically Li'aerion because it's along the Dragonspine, -not- in town, and seeing as how she is among the few IG who actually know its location and has been there, it feels right that it would be her home.
LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
>>She studies the different valences in private, studying, taking notes. Searching for unique alchemy recipes. Basically, doing anything that would not get her killed.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
>>She'd probably be a vet. I would have gone with doctor, but she hates most people.
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
>>Living as a street urchin, trying to find different ways to survive, studying people as they did their magic and trying to learn how to do it herself.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
>>About... 4 years, I want to say, off and on. She's matured, started opening up more to people, instead of shunning them away. She has a few close friends that she treasures and would do anything to save.
FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
>>At the moment she's closing in on it. Providing a proper heir for her husband. His current children are all bastards and tainted in her eyes.
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
>>Ironically, if it were ever possible, Despana possessing her and having, even for a short time, the ability to completely destroy all of Elanthia with that sort of power.
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
>>An evil looking doll that didn't have "doll" or "toy" in the description. Something I could use as an rp baby that would seem like it's straight out of the Omen.
IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
>>Only those close to her. Most have general opinions that are pretty much incorrect.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
>>Some, if I tell them.
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
>>Sometimes, if I feel it's worth it. A lot of the times, it's not.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
>>See above.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
>>She's not as "evil" as people think she is. She does things that will 1. Benefit herself first. 2. Benefit her clan. If it stops fitting into either of those, she will move on or try a different approach to things.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
>>I try to rp things out as much as possible, if needed, I'll ask OOC'ly.
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
>>None that come off the top of my head.
FINALLY:
1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority? Diety, Culture, Profession, Race, House, Society.
2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
>>Tricky question with Mae. Maybe? Maybe not? It depends on what forces were at work in the destruction.
3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
>>It's a toss up but I would have to say when Eorgina's palace was revealed to her followers and actually BEING in the presence of Eorgina herself. Having been marked on her wrists as one Eorgina's chosen a few weeks prior with the lead up to this was an awesome event, too.
>4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
>>Providing an heir for her husband. That is the biggest thing for her.
>5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
>>I've never really though of specific hates or obsessions. She's worked hard to get to the point where she is... perhaps people dismissing her achievements. I don't really know about this one.
>6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
>>Again, my sarcasm. It's a telling sign.
>7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
>>None that she knows of. She was cast out of her house by her father when she was 15 because he hated her for killing her mother. He may've remarried since?
8) What is your character's favorite drink?
>>Tea. Not a specific kind, just tea in general.
9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
>>She's married.
10) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
>>Not really special, but the Sorcerer's guild. It's known when she's there and that she should not be disturbed.
11) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?
>>I can't really think of too many people that Mae has interacted with that are gone or that she misses. She's not a very sentimental person.
*Added Question:*
12) If there was one thing you could change about your character, what would it be?
>>I'd actually have to think about this one myself.
>>We are the ones who will never be broken. With our final breath, we'll fight to the death. We are soldiers.
BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
>>Maetriks Ta'Mori
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
>>Female, 75, Dark Elf, Faendryl, Eorginian
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?

Re: A little RP survey... on 01/14/2013 12:37 PM CST
BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Laleena Yria
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female. 38. Human. Yeah, no. Leyan.
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Leyan. She's spent a big chunk of her in-game life trying to atone and be a better person. She looks at Leya as a sort of role-model sister figure, as well as a cautionary tale.
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas.)
A very lost, but loyal soul that can't see the forest for the trees.
RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
She's lucky to have a last name. Let's not hope for too much here.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
Vathors? No problem. Flaying priests of Arkati? Bring it on. Tiny little spider? Suddenly a master in some crazy style of VolnFu. I imagine this goes with shrieking like a little girl.
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Oof. Chaotic Good.
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Azure.
5) What is their favorite food?
Strawberries.
6) What is their most treasured possession?
some ebon black dagger-incised armor
The dull ebon armor has been incised with a trim of tiny daggers along the edges, each chased with slender threads of silver. Emblazoned just over the heart, a silvery dagger set with a carved ivory hilt sits centered on a round of azure imflass.
In 2001, there were these little soul collectors running around, sucking on souls when people were raised. Lal was completely convinced that they were sent by Luukos and went out of her way to avoid being raised around them. But, she sort of got stuck one day, all dead and stuff, at Voln. And, she insisted she'd rot before she'd be raised while they were there, so a cleric pulled her into a major sanct, and right as she was raised, one popped in, sucked up some soul, and ran off. Lal went nuts. And, after unsuccessfully trying to kill the little suckers, ended up at Leya's shrine outside the Landing. This change to a rather plain set of dyed double leathers was the result.
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
While they were around, I'd say the Amazons. Now that they're not, she's rather afloat.
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
I don't think favored is exactly the right word, but she has very conflicting affinity/connection with Mularos.
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
an engraved ivory-handled dagger
This small weapon is surprisingly simple in design. The handle, though ivory, is carved in the same time-honored style that any town's craftsman would use to fashion wooden hilts. Only the beautiful luster of highly polished, subtly blued steel distinguishes the narrow blade. Upon closer inspection, small lines of flowing script etched along the blade read, "So long as the Mother tends her children, so long as your Lady wields no sword, I will stand on all sides as your friend."
Her best friend, Eairus, had this made for her. It was her first special (read: altered) dagger. This item ties with the armor in the matter of importance.
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
Everywhere. Nowhere. She wouldn't stay in any one place very long.
LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
These days, I imagine she spends as much time as possible away from people. So, in the guild, in Leya's shrines, etc.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
Haha...ha...she'd be that waitress in that little roadside diner that was always there to refill your coffee with a smile that didn't reach her eyes and could be caught methodically arranging things behind the counter with a look on her face that gave away the fact that her mind was in a totally different time and place.
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
Crime. And lots of it. And a little jail.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
I started playing her when GS came to AOL. Whatever year that was. Laleena used to be a very comical character; she loved to laugh and pull pranks and generally get herself into the not so serious type of trouble. However, over the years, she got all serious on me, and it made her difficult to play because I'm not really that serious. She got downright dour. And, now, compared to who she was when I started, it's a completely different character.
FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
She doesn't have one anymore. She's lost any purpose she ever had.
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Ultimate awesome thing that could happen? Lal would wake up in her bed in her cabin in the Rest tomorrow morning and discover that the last six or seven years of her life had been a horrible nightmare.
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
Hm. A personal houseboat in the Rest. That's a prop, right?
IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
The few who did are no longer active in game.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I really don't know. I never discussed Lal with many players that weren't already deeply involved with her RP-wise, so probably not.
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
Not any more.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
They never really changed anything. Lal does what Lal does. It doesn't matter what I the player know (or want) or what any other player knows.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
I'm not sure there's any one thing specifically. But, if it's not getting across, I imagine it's because that's just the nature of the beast. She's not the type to sit down and tell you her insecurities or worries or even hint that she has any. If someone wants to know, they're going to have to dig. And, I don't think I've ever been able to make her interesting enough to make people dig, without giving away what I want people to dig for. If that makes sense.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
If I the player want to know, it's something I'd rather find out in game through roleplay.
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
Cassandra from the now-ended comic, Poison Elves. Red Sonja. Aeryn Sun from Farscape. I'm sure there are more. Anita Blake, maybe.
FINALLY:
1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their
Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Society, in terms of her friends and family, then diety. Everything else would be equally unimportant.
2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Yes.
3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
The GSS was her ruin. Woe, woe.
4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
She would do anything to recover the people she's lost.
5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Lal particularly hates it when elves speak in their native language around her. It probably comes from spending her early days with two elven brothers, who would stand around and talk to each other constantly in elven. Makes her fume. I mentioned earlier that she has an unhealthy interest in Mularos. She's very particular about her friends and family. Just don't mess with them, okay?
6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
My sarcasm and hatred of spiders. And my sense of humor.
7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
Nope, no siblings. It didn't really affect her.
8) What is your character's favorite drink?
Winterberry ale. Duh.
9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
Married, but the character has been gone for years. If you count all the years he's been gone, they've been married maybe...wow. Six years-ish?
10) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
She goes to the Night niche in the Leya shrine in the Landing. Laleena believes that the Day and Night niches in the shrine represent Leya's understanding of duality and that all people possess that darkness and light. She has to believe it.
11) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?
Lal misses Eairus the most. I miss Danay/Danay's player the most.
I thought I saw this question somewhere back, and I liked it, so I'm adding it.
12) What's the worst mistake your character has ever made?
Leaving River's Rest.
1) What is your character's name?
Laleena Yria
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female. 38. Human. Yeah, no. Leyan.
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
She doesn't really have one, I suppose if she were to think about it, she has an interest in Mularos, if only to understand him better because of an important person in her life.

a black vaalin ring cradled in white eahnor:
Fashioned of black vaalin and white eahnor, the ring is comprised of two bands wedded to become one. The larger band has slightly higher walls designed to loosely cradle the smaller band, which is free to spin around the other piece without coming loose. Etched into the black vaalin is a delicate mournbloom, which is drawn petal to stem within the metal, while the white eahnor displays the image of a single peacock feather wreathed in a herringbone chain. Dark, plum-hued feystones create the petals of the flower, just as sapphires and emeralds form the hues of the feather.
Her beloved holds the other one which is similar. It is a melding of the both of them. She is the black vaalin and he is the white eahnor. He cradles her. When she rubs it, his voice whispers to her. It is a pretty personal piece. She loves him and this ring shows just how much.
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
I think she would be positively devestated... if she had to, I imagine she would live in Ta'Loenthra.
LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
Painting, Studying... going on long walks with her beloved.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
I think she'd be one of those eccentric artists that live somewhere like New York, or LA, probably a hippy.
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
She was studying and doing what she does now.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
I have been playing her for a almost two years, I think.
FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
To Master Divination and to enjoy and embrace all the beauty of the world while she still can (She knows that she'll go blind in a few decades.). To marry her beloved and have his babies, lol.
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
That she would be able to do something very significant for her House. And be a full member of the Grey Obelisk, that would kick major butt. Also get married to her beloved and have his babies.
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
She has her major awesome dream props, if I had to guess another it would be a forehead gem tailored for divination and a painting kit.. so she could really paint pictures.. that would kick so much butt.
IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
I think a few do, I think some are confused by her "Embrace the beauty of the world!" outlook on life.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I think so, I mean the few I do think she is cute and silly because of her faith.
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
I do with a few that I am close to.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
It doesn't change much at all.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
If Silima starts raving or acting funny, it is because she is having a vision and she really hates that it draws attention. She tries really hard to suppress it, but often with visions comes pain. It isn't that she is a drama queen, I swear.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
My character will engage them. If I really want to know, I'll whisper oocly if they mind sharing.
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
Actually no, she isn't influenced by anything outside my own imagination.
FINALLY:
1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their
Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Culture, Deity, Profession, Race, House, Society.
2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Without a doubt, if it meant saving all the beauty of the world and the people she loved she would do it in a heartbeat.
3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
I think it was seeing her artwork in the Museum in Ta'Illistim was deeply moving for her. She was so very proud that she was able to display her artwork and she was honored that she got to interview to be one of the Argent Mirror's ladies in waiting.
4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
I think she would if it meant having a happily ever after life with her beloved, I think she would.
5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
She doesn't like rude people or people who lack manners. She won't call them out on it, but she quietly dislikes it. She loves tools of divination and has quite a collection. She also loves when she is inspired to draw people, you'll find that if she is fascinated by a character, she'll draw them.
6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
My love of art and glorified views of romance. I think those are most ingrained in her.
7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
No siblings, she is an only child.
8) What is your character's favorite drink?
black currant tea.
9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
Yes, she is courting her beloved, of course and they intend to marry.
10) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
She likes Veythorne manor's garden under the glowbark tree where she can listen to the sirenflowers. Or you'll see her hanging out at the fountain in Briarstone court.
11) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?
She misses Naitalya, her bestest friend.
12) What's the worst mistake your character has ever made?
She hasn't made any yet.

Illistimi.
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas.)
She is a dedicated member of her house, an artist and student of divination, her goals are to be of use to her house and her culture as a whole.
RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
Gimilpher, she was named after her paternal great-grandmother Gimilpher Oneriel Illistim
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
My character is slowly going blind as her gift for prophesy grows stronger. She'll most likely be blind in about ten to twenty years.

Lawful Neutral
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Grey.
5) What is their favorite food?
I don't believe she really has a favorite food. But she does love tea.

an oblong pallid crystal strung on a long black vaalin chain. It is a seeing crystal.
It was given to her by a Jastevian priest at a festival. She told the tale of her mother and her death.. and how she had foreseen it.
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
In her roleplay she talks a lot about the Imperial sect called the Sisters of the Hidden eye. She also very much desires to be apart of the Grey Obelisk like the other female members of her father's family (i.e. her two twin aunts.)
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
She doesn't really have one, I suppose if she were to think about it, she has an interest in Mularos, if only to understand him better because of an important person in her life.
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

Re: A little RP survey... on 02/05/2013 10:29 PM CST
I hesitated to participate here for fear of revealing more about my character that I would rather roleplay out with other players but found it actually more interesting in exploring more about my character that I could roleplay with other players. If that made any sense at all. Anyway…
BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Nouvard Vorenis Vaalor
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Male, 324, elf, Vaalorian, paladin for Koar
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Vaalorian. I’ve always liked semis and this was what I envisioned for a paladin. I was heavily influenced by HBO’s Rome mini series when I created Nouvard. I thought I saw a few similarities in Ceasar’s Rome and Tyrnian’s Ta’Vaalor and that was BEFORE there was a Legion that players could join. I mention that because I feel a certain amount of validation that my vision of Nouvard and Vaalor was/is appropriate.
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
Blindly loyal and stiff Vaalorian dedicated to freeing the innocent souls used by the mortal enemies of the elves the undead.
RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
No.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
He is a vegetarian.
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Lawful Neutral. What I like about playing Nouvard is that he definitely has harsh prejudices but also has learned to incorporate certain allowances that suit his needs.
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Crimson.
5) What is their favorite food?
Crisp fresh fruit.
6) What is their most treasured possession?
Oddly enough that is going to stay a secret. But, the perfect handaxe forged by the dwarf Bluesmith is pretty high up on the list.
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
The Order of Voln. Koar. Lorminstra. Voln. Freeing innocent souls. Nouvard hunts undead exclusively.
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Voln. Then Lorminstra.
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
a porcelain white mithglin breastplate with an eahnor-inlaid crimson wyvern across the chest
I got tired of the crimson, gold, and black palette so I switched it up to go crimson, gold and white. It is 5x max lightened with mana recovery and stamina recovery enhansive orbs.
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
If Sylvarrend is out of the question I suppose he would set up camp in a mausoleum in a cemetery plagued with undead. Hopefully a spot blessed by Koar, Voln, Lorminstra or some other benevolent Arkati.
LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
Equipment maintenance. Axe sharpening, shield polishing, armor adjusting.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
Farming. Probably an orchard.
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
Nouvard has been brought up like all Vaalorians. Trained for a life of vigilance against any enemy of the elves.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
Best I can recall is 2007. So, damn, 6 years with very generous breaks. Nouvard is solid Vaalorian but has learned to make certain allowances and now has some unlikely allies.

Heathyr's had a few interesting encounters with Nouvard. I don't think they quite know what to make of one another. Though they appear to be fighting on the same side, even for the same Arkati, they could not be more different in manner and style. Heathyr is bemused by Nouvard's rigid discipline and dedication. Nouvard seems cautious and suspicious of Heathyr's apparent mastery of the dark arts. I think it's a fascinating contrast. :)
