Tickets will go on sale next week!

When meeting with the hotel, I was informed that we're going to have a potentially frustrating situation this year that I need to alert everyone about beforehand.

Apparently there was an altercation in Westport Plaza recently (what boils down to a drunken brawl, it seems) and after the fallout/hospitalizations/etc. it seems that the Maryland Heights Police Department has begun enforcing a rather annoying statute on Westport Plaza property.

Beginning at 1am, all alcohol has to be removed from "public areas" and all alcohol consumption is subsequently limited to guests' sleeping rooms only. The hotel has no control over this and there will apparently be a uniformed officer wandering around the property enforcing the law. The hotel has said that we're more than welcome to have "room parties" as usual, and they'll work to arrange our rooms so that we're situated together, above and below, so we'll have as minimal an impact on "normal people" as possible, both in our rooms and on the way to our rooms.

There will be a few suites being reserved on our floors and if you are interested in obtaining one of these suites for the purposes of hosting "evening" gatherings, please contact me (ericl@simutronics.com) and I'll get your information to the hotel to free one up for you. If no one is interested in hosting, the suites will eventually be opened for acquisition on a first come, first served basis, but for now we're hoping that someone (or a few people) will want to pick one up.

Having said that, the hotel will still be enforcing the "two warning rule", so we need to focus on having "gatherings" more than "parties" unless we can maintain reasonable auditory control. I would suggest that if anyone is having a room gathering for the purposes of drinking mass quantities and they get a warning, your two best options for your next move would be: 1) move to someone else's room, or 2) call it a night in terms of the drinking and move back to the safety of the hospitality suite for gaming and socializing.

Other than that small hiccup, I'm sure we're going to have an awesome time and we hope to see everyone there!

Solomon
