I recently found a perplexing feras item on the pawn table in Mist Harbor. Specifically, a 5x feras dagger. It inspects as follows:

You carefully inspect a crackling feras misericord with zorchar runes for sale.

It imparts a bonus of +25 more than usual.

It is a small item, under a pound.

It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of feras.

The misericord is a dagger that requires skill in edged weapons to use effectively.

It appears to be of elegant craftmanship.

It's very pretty, and also there is the 5x which is quite obviously not normal. Neither bard song nor Elemental Detection reveals the name of a wizard who enchanted it, so I believe we have to assume it was generated this way. The line about elegant craftmanship also seems odd as it is usually something seen with player forged weapons, but as far as anyone knows there are no fears player forged weapons. Previously to these items, there have been a couple/few found now, the only reference to "crackling feras" was in regards to "a pair of crackling feras gauntlets" that were offered at a Wyromania and are advertised as being "supercharged" which has lead to speculation that perhaps they last longer than usual but likely not as much longer as the gauntlets.

Is there anyone who can provide some insight into these? Are we on the right track?

Crumbly feras weapon or not, I hope they're not dipping their toes into putting the perks of player-forged weapons onto weapons from outside that system.

The only reason anyone forges or seeks forged weapons is those bonuses aren't otherwise available. If they start putting them in weapons obtained in other manners, it won't be worth the time or expense to make weapons in the forge... if they're starting it here, it's only a matter of time before it starts popping up right and left on weapons from DR and flooding the system.

I remember seeing that one yesterday, and thought it was pretty interesting. Didn't buy it, since I don't have anyone that actually hunts with daggers, but cool none-the-less.

No... and player-forged weapons don't show up in the backroom when sold at the pawn. Though, if you just forge a blade and selling without combining it with a hilt, it can show up on the misc table.

Elegant gets used outside of the player forged system. I've got caught out by it before, expecting forging bonuses in a weapon I bought when there were none.
