Pures can have a choice to train in Manuevers which don't have to be earned with Combat Maneuver ranks but rather are naturally gained through a series of magical training skill ranks. So if you have a critical mass of ranks between all your magic training, you automatically gain 1 Pure Maneuver point or some such name. There's no downside to giving more variety and utility for your training. If an automatic rank doesn't work then why not incorporate Pure Manuevers into the magical skillset as an option?
Examples:
A caster digs deep into a hyper-concentrated state which draws some stamina and extra mana and boost their CS for one cast by +2 per rank with Vigilant Focus.
A caster plants their Runestaff in the ground and knocks the top of it with their palm. A pulse ripples outward on the ground of blue energy which reaches the critters. The TD of the whole group effected gets knocked +2 per rank.
A caster spins their runestaff in a whirl with blinding spin action. Melee and ranged attacks are potentially deflected, often into a random critter.
A caster releases 100 mana into the magical matrix of the environment and converts it back into a temporary boosted effect of all self-cast defensive spells with an invigoration of CS and bolt spells.
A caster trains to become much more perceptive to signs of stalking and hiding critters by using their natural mana and magical stat properties as a way to sense them out, giving the caster a reduced push down result when ambushed.
