I was reminded in another recent discussion that in the past in GS races were brought in to justify or fill a need of some sort so I was wondering...what with the huge popularity of urban fantasy and paranormal romance (not to mention the already existing steam punk in the game) if it couldn't be at all possible to import a present day human culture into the game with a small community somewhere in much the same way Aelotoi appeared back in the day. This would then make possible all sorts of clothing options not currently considered arbitrarily "period". You could also say that these same humans weren't at all scientific or engineering types so they wouldn't be able to design kevlar body armor or automobiles or guns or any kind of modern tech...just bring in some current fashions and culture...
