I had a thought while talking to someone today that it would be nice if we had more roleplay devices available for plot twists in storylines and whatnot, and alchemy seems like an appropriate place to add some to the game.
An example of where I'm going with this...
A few months ago one of my characters was attempting to convince a mob that an orphan was evil and should be dealt with accordingly. I don't really care for the "I EVIL RAWR" in your face bad guy, so for me it's about getting getting results without being obvious.
Something that would have really helped the above situation would have been passing the orphan some hot cocoa laced with poison. That would have stopped him from sharing plans and been a less obvious route, especially if I could have gotten someone else to hand it to him.
So those kind of devices would be nice additions to the game and I think alchemy would be a nice vessel to provide them.
Some things I think that would be neat additions would be...
-poisons - instant, slow, and debilitating that can be added to food items and drinks
-memory loss potions - these would simply give the user/onlookers messaging implying they're losing memories
-acids - for destroying items/information
-silence vials - used to interrupt speeches and buy time
-smoke bombs - used for diversions - everyone's vision goes black for a few seconds
-bombs in general - used for diversions/devastation and covering escapes - probably not deadly so much as disabling
-potions of disguise/illusion to pretend to be someone else
