If I tell my companion to attack unfocused while hunting, will she just straight out attack anything and keep attacking different targets as they change?
Will she follow me while I hunt? Do I just tell her to guard?
I'm wondering if I have to tell her to return - attack - return - attack etc etc
I just need a little advice on how these commands actually work. The site doesn't say much at all.

First realize there is a huge lag between when you issue a command and when it gets executed. The worse is sadly the attack command. Most times unless I am in a swarm the target will be dead before the wolf attacks. In my opinion the only time the companion reacts fast is when I'm stunned in front of him.
I've never tried an unfocused attack so I can't answer that for you. In my experience though its about 50/50 on if the wolf will follow me after I give it an attack command. Most of the time I walk a room over and simply use the return command out of habit now. I've had pretty good luck using my companion till now(lvl 71). Sadly with minotaurs I do not give them the chance to swarm so the companion is mostly used when I get stunned or as a RP item.
Best advice is to simply play with the companion. commands are pretty self explanatory and you'll figure out the nuances of them pretty easily.
