Replying to old threads here, but liked the idea of bards getting over being drunk faster. Perhaps a slight variation on that would be a way to fake a sip of a drink. Everyone else would see you take a sip... but you would see yourself "pretend to sip" or something.
This is something that is perfected by professionals of all kinds who work in and around bars.
In response to bard percussion instruments.. I want me some bongos, dangit.
Instead of bard-specific instruments, I would suggest a wider range of things to do with them, aside from tuning them and becoming an adept.. Hell, why not make instruments? We can already make shoes and arrows and swords that no one wants.
Other types of bard guild skills I wouldn't mind seeing:
Getting over being drunk faster!
Tricks like pulling something out of your sleeve or coughing it up, like the rogues can do
Instead of war cries we could have rallying chants or some such.
We don't necessarily need something new and unique, maybe just something modified from a pre-existing guild.. hell, I'd be fine with sweeping.. just so we ahve something. Some reason to actually be in the bard guild. It's been years.
