When I try to connect to the game windows is asking if I want to open or save a file called <character name>.sal. Just started after I updated to Windows 8.1

On the game launcher download page I did see this message "Our site indicates that you do not have ActiveX enabled." I tried to change a couple of the ActiveX settings but didn't get anywhere.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, you have to save your char.sal

The ActiveX error message is always there for me. It doesn't mean anything.

You'll also probably have to manually clean out the .sal files from time to time.

If you aren't automatically overwriting the old xxx.sal, but generating xxx 1.sal, xxx 2.sal etc., the game won't work after xxx 99.sal

Do I need to save it to a particular folder? I did save it once but it just put the file in my Downloads folder, still didn't start Wizard.

I think I searched for .sal files on my PC but didn't find any, will have to check again when I get home.

Try re-installing the simu-launcher, or double clicking on the SAL file.

You should be able to set the sal file to run automatically on download. Otherwise you'll need to do the double click thing to launch it manually.
They go into my downloads folder and that works.

There's also a chance that a pre-installed program on the computer also already uses the .sal file extension for its program. I had this problem when I bought a new laptop recently and some pre-installed label making software kept trying to load up every time I tried to log in. I finally figured out what was going on and I just deleted the label making software since I would never have used it anyway.

Re-installed simu-launcher and got it to start. Had to copy all my SIMU files to the Program Files (x86) directory /SIMU folder to get all my scripts, strings, configurations etc.

But I am back in, already slew some bandits!!

Thanks for all the responses!!
