** Decide Merishon's Fate **

Merishon has been out of jail and on the loose for over two years. What? You don't know
who Merishon is? Merisohn is the long lost brother of Lady Merrielle that she didn't know
she had. While she grew up with her parents, he was orphaned and spent his life on the
streets. When he discovered that his sister was so well off, he was filled with rage.
He has orchestrated a few plots in Mist Harbor to seek his revenge, the most recent one
ending with the death of Captain Almenduin, who dove in front of Merrielle to save her
from the same fate. So, what has the notorious villain been doing all this time? What
are his next nefarious plans? This month's contest is to help decide Merishon's fate.
See below for the requirements.

Here are the requirements:
1) Describe where Merishon has been in the two years since he killed Captain Almenduin.
2) Design a short storyline where Merishon returns.
3) List three future plans for Merishon.

Entries that do not include all three requirements will not be considered eligible.
Contestants have until midnight PT on February 29, 2016 to get entries to me.

Ten winners will be chosen from the submitted entries.

Like all Premium Monthly Contests, entries are subject to change based on the discretion
of the GMs and QC. Entries will be judged during the first week of April. Jainna
will not judge this contest except in the rare case of a tie. The winners will be
announced as soon as possible afterwards. Jainna reserves the right to make any changes
to items that she or QC deems necessary.

Please direct any questions to the Premium Contests folder on the official message boards.

"While she grew up with her parents, he was orphaned and spent his life on the streets." -- Jainna's contest backstory

Uhhh... if they're siblings, then she would have been orphaned, too. No?

(Although I suppose, if she were sufficiently older than he such that she is considered an adult when they died, then yeah.)

1. He could have been kidnapped and his parents thought he was dead.
2. They might've not wanted the boy and only wanted the girl.
3. Um... there is no 3.

>>Uhhh... if they're siblings, then she would have been orphaned, too. No?

But that wouldn't make for a good revenge story, now would it? This is their backstory that I wrote for the first storyline involving Merishon in 2011.

>>Merishon is Merrielle's twin brother but she is unaware of this fact. When they were babies, Merishon was given away and Merrielle wasn't. Thus, Merrielle grew up pampered, well off, and in the lime-light, eventually rising to town official. Meanwhile, Merishon was brought to an orphanage by his mother and then ran away at a very young age and basically had to fend for himself. He wandered Elanthia, exploring, thieving, looting, etc. always searching but never finding. Then he decided what he was looking for were answers to his past. He went back to the orphanage and questioned the staff about his origins whereby he discovered that he was given to them by a mother with twins who couldn't take care of both children. He then went on a crusade to find out about his sister and this eventually led him to Mist Harbor and Merrielle. Angry that he had been given away and she hadn't, and seeing how affluent she has become, he decided to steal the artifacts from her in revenge and recompense for all he missed out on. Now, not caring about all the trinkets he found in his wanderings when he was looking for something but didn't know what, he's raffling them off to the populace.

That's when I started doing Artifact Raffles, and then it led to Merishon stealing from Merrielle and raffling THOSE items off. Then he kidnapped Arbigail while fleeing the law to use as a hostage and escaped with a magical portal, which released the Premium Transport System. He was finally captured and thrown in jail where he continued to raffle off all of his personal property as payment for his crimes. Then some folks broke him out of jail and they hatched a plot to try to kill Merrielle, and it almost worked but the Captain of the Merchant Guard, Captain Almenduin, jumped in front of her to save her, dying instead. Merishon's been missing ever since.

Since, it seemed, the point was being accurate rather than critiquing the idea of the storyline, I think the word you want to use is ABANDONED rather than ORPHANED. A subtle, perhaps even meaningless differentiation, but more accurate, nonetheless.
